Unfortunately, I deleted the whole folder after I got it done. However, I unpack it again and try the original Cxxxxxxx.inf (8.89 MobilityMod) without modify it. It still works, it asks to confirm installtion without signature -> click yes -> screen turns black -> "-" flickers in the middle of the screen a few times -> screen turns back on and (Aero is still enabled).

I have no clear idea how it didn't work for you.
Can you run msinfo32 -> components -> display
and paste the PNP Device ID & Adapter Type & Driver here

p.s I think I have found the problem. If you go to *system root*/driver/ The atipmdag.sys that I have is from HP 8.712 driver, and right now as I am typing, running on 11.10 preview2, everything works, atikmdag.sys + atikmpag.sys are from 11.10 preview2. Only atipmdag.sys is old.
And I think most bsod happens because of atipmdag, correct me if I'm wrong

Weird thing is I couldn't find atipmdag.sys anywhere in HP 8.712 extract.

brt, check your atipmdag.sys for me, then I'll test the 11.10preview2 with you

Right..... first things first.... I'm running 8.712, the latest HP drivers

    PNP Device ID: PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_94A0&SUBSYS_7009103C&REV_00\4&FCD57A6&0&0018
Adapter type : ATI display adapter (0x94A0), ATI Technologies Inc. compatible
    Driver : c:\windows\system32\drivers\atikmpag.sys (8.14.1.6099, 184.50 KB (188,928 bytes), 02/03/2010 22:07)

I have the atipmdag.sys file, size 6.10mb, modified 02/03/2010 Same as yours - there are references to atipmdag.sys in the inf for 8.712 but not in 11.10 preview 2, so it may be that the file is not relevant to these drivers anymore?

Ok, if you have downlaoded the 11.10previewb2

Download my driver folder (11.10previewbeta2) and just overwrite the existing one.

Run the setup -> custom -> update everything.
Screen should go black and flicker the "-" then turn back on

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Now if replacing my files doesn't work, try add the following to CH&C7 .inf (they the same you can just edit one and copy&paste to the other one) :

    [r300.Mppxy]
    atipmdag.sys,atikmdag.sys
    only HP driver has this

    [AMD_Service_Inst_M9x7] & [AMD_Service_Inst_Manhattan]
    ServiceBinary = %12%\atipmdag.sys

ATI Drivers has atikmdag.sys not atipmdag.sys, strange.

But when I ran mine, I didn't have to do all these, I just had to modify [ATI.Mfg.NTamd64.6.0] in the .inf. Which I have included in the rar file.

And there's no atipmdag.sys or atipmdag.sy in HP 8.712 extract anywhere. Beside it's mentioned in the inf

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have included the driver info files that worked and were used to install the driver from C:\Windows\inf for you to snoop..
    oem92 - 8.762.0.0000
    oem93 - 8.890.0.0000
    oem95 - 8.901.2.0000

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By the way, what bsod error did you run into, atikm or atipm.
I found this article regarding atikmdag.sys bsod. And atipmdag.sys bsod article , some guys claim you need to install BSOD-proof MSE....

Side thing, have you updated your intel chipset from the driver thread.

Thanks will give all that a try. I've reverted my laptop to a clean install of windows 7 x64 to avoid any issues with previous attempts at installing these drivers

Incidently you have a lower version of direct3d to me acording to that screenshot of catalyst control center you posted earlier. Mine is 8.14.10.0735Yours is 7.14.10.0860. This is on a clean win7 sp1 install, with only the 8.712 hp drivers and winrar installed

It was atikmdag.sys that was causing the bsods, don't remeber ever seeing atipmdag.sys on the bsods....

If it's atikmdag, I assume when you update the driver manually or through ati setup, it doesn't install the latest atikmdag
