Re: The definitive guide to the Envy trackpad
I don't think I've landed on what I prefer for right clicks, between the hardware button and two finger tap I kinda vacillate.
Huge fan of the chiral scroll though, love zipping around pages with it.

Re: The definitive guide to the Envy trackpad
my GOD scrolling is buttery smooth with Reil's app!!!! I first did the broken synaptics drivers first, but after that I've been reading so many forums on my new envy 14 that I never got around to installing his program... amaaaaazing stuff! Lol, now EVERY time I two finger scroll it does it... no more "every other" registering on the touchpad! YOSH!
Sorry I just was blown away how much better the pad is... I'm done now -.-

Re: The definitive guide to the Envy trackpad
I have to agree with most posted here but need a little help..
Maybe I am setting it up wrong but I cant enable tapping in synaptics without it placing a double tap everytime I tap the touchpad. What i loose is the ability to tap and drag (which I use a lot). Is it a setup issue???
The gain from reil's in unbelievable!!!! The 2 finger scrolling is amazing.

Re: The definitive guide to the Envy trackpad
It's in the original post.
Turn single-tap click off in Reil's. What happens is single tap in synaptics AND reil's is activated, triggering TWO clicks when a tap event occurs. This make it seem like a double tap. So turn it off in reil's (just single-tap click)Envy 14- i7-720QM | ATi Radeon 5650 1GB | 4GB DDR3 | Momentus 7200.4 |

Re: The definitive guide to the Envy trackpad
First, I'd to like to mention that I registered just to thank the guys who developed the indescribably improved touchpad drivers--I'm also sad to have found out a while back that Reil will no longer be developing his excellent drivers.
That said, while I do love the new and improved scrolling, multi-finger gestures, etc., there's just ONE lingering issue that I cannot resolve for the life of me... Has anyone else noticed that the two-finger scroll method scrolls WAY TOO fast ONLY in windows explorer? In EVERY other app/window, the scrolling is smooth and proportional to my fingers' movements, but only in explorer (and I DON'T mean Internet Explorer, just to be clear), moving even 1-2mm causes about 12-15 rows of icons (I use tile view) to scroll up and down. For instance, I have a folder containing ~340 files... two-finger scrolling VERY slightly brings me down to about the 80th file.
Some observations so far:
--I did catch one other member of this forum mentioning this issue, but I can't remember or find where that was.
--I notice that if I use the one-finger scroll via the edge of the trackpad, scrolling is "normal."
--I did disable multi-finger actions in Synaptics completely to ensure that those drivers and Reil's aren't "stacking" and causing a double-scroll.
--So far, As far as I know, it seems to be an issue w/ Reil's driver... when I close Reil's completely and use ONLY the craptastic Synaptics drivers, ALL windows will scroll at reasonable speeds with two-finger scroll. (But I am not willing to trade off Reil's for that)
Here's hoping for a solution, or at least to know that I'm not missing something really obvious because I'm surprised I've found only one other person who's complained about the same issue.

Re: The definitive guide to the Envy trackpad
Happens to me, too, but less prominent. The speed is MUCH faster, but I can still scroll one file at a time (detail view)

Re: The definitive guide to the Envy trackpad
I am currently using both Reil's and Clickpad14 (not sure who made this but i'm very grateful to you). Trackpad locker is not needed and I am very glad ^^
These are the stuffs I'm able to achieve by having both programs turned on at the same time.
1. Disable the trackpad by double-tapping the top left zone (can't do with Reil alone).
2. Able to drag and move icons by clicking down on the bottom left + anywhere in the trackpad (Can't do with Clickpad++ alone).
3. Able to 2 finger tap to right click (doesn't work well in Reil).
These are the following mods I did
1. Disable 1,2&3 finger tap in Reil's.
2. Disable 3 finger scrolling in Reil's (under Actions Tab, both left/right pair and up/down pair).
2. Disable 2 & 3 finger scrolling in Clickpad++.
3. Disable 1+1 finger drag in Clickpad++
4. Max the palm check area in Synaptics Software
Everything else should be the same as default.
Not sure if this has been previously posted, but those of you who are interested you can try it out. Works really well IMO.Last edited by ArchEnemy; 1st August 2011 at 10:10 PM.

Re: The definitive guide to the Envy trackpad
Update:
Synaptics released driver version 15.2.20, this is newer and updated.
Download here: Drivers | Synaptics
Instructions to install:
Okay, try htis:
1. Uninstall your current drivers, then install the HP stock ones (for maximum compatibility, you may not need to uninstall)
2. Install broken ones
3. Update to latest.
If you already have the broken ones, then you can just update.Last edited by eafd; 23rd June 2011 at 04:51 PM.
