Hi Guys, just to share some info I found regarding the mystery Graphics in the new Envys:

    Envy 15 - AMD 7670M
    Envy 17 - AMD 7690M

Hopefully those are like the top of the line graphics cards, but it does not seem like it due to their nomenclature, anyways, @lancehudson will find it out soon and hopefully share that info with us.

    Thanks!

OK, I'm confused, which one of these is the correct answer??

HP Confirms IPS Display and AMD 7690XT Graphics for New Envy 15

One place says no IPS, than this one says YES to IPS. Also the GPU is reporting different as well?? Yeah, I'm confused, LOL!!!!

lol, over in the NOW AVAILABLE - Updated ENVY 15, ENVY 17 / ENVY 17 3D forum, the consensus is 7670 and 7690.

As for IPS, the consensus is the 15inch is IPS, the 17's are not.

Ugg, got a email from HP. Funny I got a coupon from them saying sorry for the inconvenience and 30 mins later I get a email saying what the inconvenience was.

    Dear Lance Hudson,

Due to an unplanned delay in the production process, we will be unable to ship your customized order by the original estimated ship date.

We now expect to complete your order on or before a revised ship date of 12/13/2011 at which time we will email you a shipping notification with your carrier tracking number. You can then track your shipment online to obtain the estimated delivery date.

We can assure you your PC will arrive in time for the holidays. In order to speed up delivery, we will send your PC as fast as possible. We do not anticipate further delays and will notify you through email should that change.
...BTW, I have a 15% off coupon now, I haven't decided to use it yet, so PM with a great story and I might change my mind .

Just reading this threads multitude of issues with the Intel 6200 wifi made me jump on that first. Anyway I am getting by with latest 14.0.2.2 Intel wifi driver with N mode disabled under properties and running better with far less freezes - more than 24 hours an no freeze is a record for me! Besides that the ENVY is working great like you said. Very impressed with the reduced heat issues, better battery life and switchable graphics vs series 1xxx ENVY 17 that I bricked.
Well I am not going to get access to a network cable til late next week on another network, but I have purchased a USB wifi stick and disabled the ENVY's built in Intel 6200 card. No more computer lock ups so I think that pretty much isolates things! With the 6200 the lock up were really bad when running uTorrent but not always.

I guess I will try and buy a 6300 card next, but some users say it makes no difference.

However the USB wifi does seem to run hot and just stops giving me access from time to time although it doesn't freeze the whole computer up, so I will need another one of them as well. Perhaps a bigger one, as this is a tiny ASUS I wanted that didn't stick out much.

OMG I'm so angry right now..... I know I've already cried a couple times about the bad timing of my ENVY purchase (bought 9/28), but I guess I'm not over it yet.

Just found a working 33% off coupon. After discount with identical options I chose for my 17t-2100 3D (w/ 300GB SSD), the new ENVY 17 is only $100 more!!! AAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGG!!!!!!

Well, when your able to use the Ethernet cable, you'll have all of the speed and none of the heat! I use Torrents a lot and experience NO heat when using the Ethernet cable! Glad you have isolated the issue, at least you now know you have a sound Envy!

Look at it from the bright side, at least your Envy is running and no hiccups! Heck I bought mine on Oct 3rd! Personally, I'm very happy with what I have! My big question will come in March, when I will need to decide to buy either a new 3rd gen model or the Envy 14-2160se. If I had to make the decision today, I would still go with the all Black 2160se! We'll see what happens in March!
