Unless you use reclock and watch 24fps media...

And the screen can do 120Hz just fine without running 3D applications.

I was told about the 5% by a new member here. I ordered mine last month and had no idea. Checked my AMEX account on line and sure enough, 5% back!!! You are right, it gave me about a cool $100 back, making my savings a nice 30%.

@mrgod2u (and wow - you changed your avatar and that threw me for a loop LOL!) - I'm a she, not a he (maybe I need an avatar - and can you please tell me what flavor your AMEX card is? I have a platinum cash rebate card - called and asked and she said I would need to check my statements as monthly offers come on them. Well....I don't use this card, so no monthly statements. I also checked the website that goes with this card for "HP Promos" at her suggestion and came up with nothing.

I do have an old AMEX gold card that was on my consulting business - but I'm not sure if it is still active as I haven't used it in a looong time - will have to call.

Just wondering if it was an automatic 5% no matter when you purchase or if it was an offer you responded too. It would save me another $100, which would be niiiiice!
I can tell you that if was automatic on my amex gold business card. It showed up several days after purchase as a 5% discount. I was pleasantly surprised.

    What is a "dual 60hz screen" ?

I think he means interpolated. Basically means it uses a method of manipulating the refresh rate so it mimics 120 hz. The difference between a true 120 hz and a interpolated 120 hz are quite obvious since interpolated 120 hz produces many artifacts, and freezes.

    Hi fiver5,
looks like you got yours. Congrats.
And even better, looks like it does SATA III (or am i reading something wrong here).
And I was just about to order my intel 320...crap. No I have to do a lot of thinking again. Intel 510 (reliable intel) or vertex 3 (not so reliable from what I read, but great CS). The vertex only comes in 120 or 240...and I kind a settled on the 160 (price and storage compromise). AAAAAhhhhrggggggghhhhhh
I am happy we are getting SATA III, but it really screws up my decision making. Oh and there is the crucial 300.

*Excellent* - thanks for the link - that prompted me to apply for a new AMEX OPEN gold business card - and she confirmed that it would give me 5% cash back (woohoo!!) BUT.....I have to wait 3 business days to get the card in the mail before I can actually ORDER ::sigh::!!! Ahhh well, patience is a virtue (that I do not have). Hoping that will still work buying it through the Academic store - will post when everything gets settled.

If anyone out there can answer the docking station question from earlier, that would be much appreciated. Apparently I have three days to wait for an answer ::sighs again::

Interpolation does not manipulate the refresh rate.

Interpolation manipulates the video frames being sent to the display.

How can you tell it's SATA III?
