    Congratulations slotti.

How did you get this information? Did HP email you this order status? Did you call HP Customer Service to get it? As I have called Customer Service several times and gotten nothing but misinformation, it seems pointless to call again regarding my order status. My order status still shows that my system is in production with an order date of March 9 and an estimated ship date of March 30. I do not understand how this custom order program works.
Hard to figure out any Rhyme or Reason to the shipping at this point. I would hope that your machine ships this week. You are long overdue...

Bobmitch, hopefully yours and mine will ship I'd hope by the end of next week. If the law of nature/past experience holds I would not be surprised if its on a Friday and the message of "Fedex cutoff" shows up.

Still, I'm pleased to hear people will have their Envy by next week.

P.S. As posted before, I really want to see how our Envy hold up to Crysis 2. Even on the low "Gamer" setting, the dv-4283cl handled it ok...just ok. I'm sure the Envy should be able to handle the mid level "Advanced" smoothly. Of course I'll try it on "Hardcore" just for kicks.

you can get SSDs from newegg.com but read the reviews before buying any one. Intel's brand is usually the more popular/reliable, but also more expensive.

Newegg.com - SSD, Solid State Drive, Solid State Disk Drive

you would need to get a hard drive caddy to install the secondary hard drive:

the caddy can be bought here: http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index....d7ee8bb0046f1b

instructions to install the SDD here:

Thanks for the info! Ill check it out but the installing part seems complicated. I would definitely need a professional to do that for me for sure. Man I wish I had gotten the ssd/hdd combo from the HP site with the 25% coupon.

I think you're mistaken....Ivy Bridge is coming out NEXT year according to the very article you posted....

And are you getting an envy or not? Cuz it seems like you're committed to the dv7tqe so I'm not quite sure why it matters to you.

I am debating in between these:
    1. Zalman NC 3000 Amazon.com: Zalman NC-3000U Notebook Cooler: Electronics
    2. Zalman NC 2000 Amazon.com: Notebook Cooler, Silver, ZM-NC2000: Electronics
    3. NZKT Cryo LX Amazon.com: NZXT ACC-NT-CRYO LX Aluminum Notebook Cooler 120MM Adjustable Fans (Black): Electronics

    any recommendation from you guys?
I got the Zalman 3000u. It had some good reviews. Not sure how effective it would be with the Envy 17 3d though.

I am not too good with replacement of HDDs, SSDs, that is why I chose to just get the SSD/HDD combo from HP to save some headache.

There are many others here with lots of technical knowledge who will help with the details.

Yes I have been following and saw the SSD/640 RAID striping issues. Didn't know how the dual 5400's would be set up. Thank you.

Nah, the SSD/HDD combo from HP is a huge waste of money. If you don't want to install the 2nd SSD/HDD yourself, just ask a friend or colleague who's a little more familiar with this stuff.

Well, I got the email from HP with the trackin number from FedEX. Pretty easy. Went to FedEx, and it said: "arrived at FedEx location after the cut off time). This was Friday. Since I know that FedEx will just have your shipment sit around over the weekend (unless you have next day delivery), I know it won't move again before Monday.
If yours was March 30 though, it does sound a bit weird, since it seems like most systems are now shippin on time. Well, it does go back to my previous post about HP's Google Page Ranking and the way how they might have decided to deal with delays. Once they got parts back in stock, they start shipping the undelayed systems and just hold for the delayed longer (better to have a few unsatisfied customers than a lot more). I am not saying that I agree with this policy, but from a marketing point of view that is unfortunately the most feasible one.
I sincerley hope yout system will ship this week though.

Just get a friend to ship it to in the US, phone HP, haggle, get it shipped, then tell your friend to give you the tracking number he gets after shipping it. Call the shipping company, tell them the tracking number, and let them know that you would like to broker the item yourself. That way you avoid brokerage fees. Since laptops don't get charged duty, brokerage fees and taxes are the things you'll pay for.

Sometimes brokerage fees aren't too high though, and it might not be worth the hassle to go over to the shipping depot (wherever it is...usually in Van) to do it yourself. So check how much the brokerage fees would be.

    Cheers.
Foxhound98 - Thanks for the info. I see that some shipping companies will set up a US address across the border where you can either pick up or have it redirected to you. I'll check into it and see what works best.
