Or are there other bios/registry settings I still have to tweak to get everything going again?
You'd be all good to just drop it in the notebook after the firmware is flashed via an IDE connection on a desktop or notebook that has IDE capability.
    Brand new, secondhand.

Such as "DRAGON" already wrote (addressed to "ikilledbambi):

    I agree with him.
In the meantime, I had all my "HP DMI Tools" concerned. Besides "HPBI103.EXE" these are still a few more. see here:

What are all I know, unfortunately, not yet.
I think some are better for the activation of "Quad" on PM965. just kidding!

Whether there really a connection between the lack of "Bios Information" and "WiFi N6300 Ultimate" There remains a pure conjecture by me. (Presumption in this post)

What do you two think about it?
Regarding the WiFi N6300 Ultimate I have given up on trying to get this to work with my HDX9310EA.

One interesting point for me was that I experienced identical problems with the Intel 5300 in that it would lock up my machine forcing a hard reset to recover. The part number for my 5300 was 506679-001 and It took me a while to discover that this card was the root cause of my lock-ups.

It was then I found some information on the HP Elitebook 8730W where a modified part 480986-001 was quoted for the Intel 5300. See here: HP EliteBook 8730w Mobile Workstation- HP EliteBook 8730w Mobile Workstation - Removing and Replacing Wireless LAN Minicard - c01674985 - HP Business Support Center.

Out of curiosity I obtained / installed an Intel 5300 (480986-001) and this version of the 5300 functions perfectly without causing any lock-ups to date on my Dragon.

I am now curious to find out if the lock-ups with the N6300 could be related to iAMT as I believe this card also has support for this technology. This is just a theory based on my experiences with the 5300 and the HP support article mentioned above.

RB - I would just like to say thank you for the extensive testing you carried out with the N6300 and I am also curious about a possible link with motherboard /chipset revisions following your tests. Maybe I will come back to the N6300 one day if we can find a solution.

Hey IKB, I'm having some issues with the HP DMI tools USB key. I DLd it, unzipped it, and created the USB key. It seems to have all of the files on it, but the Dragon won't boot from it. Any ideas?

The DMI tools should work fine if the USB key has been prepped as a bootable drive. Hit F9 when booting and select the USB drive and type the commands at the DOS prompt. I tend to use the HP drive key format tool with win98 boot files. I am away for a few days and do not have access to my files but may be able to advise better when I return if you still have problems with booting from your USB drive.

Hey, thanks. I'll try F9 during bootup. I also had another idea. My thumb drive is 4Gb, and the install formats it in FAT32. I'm wondering if it's too big for the BIOS to recognize for a FAT32 drive. It would be ironic if I had to go buy a smaller thumb drive.

So rather than risk it I cancelled the order to wait for the newer Octane series that's just being released and wait to see how their new Indilinx controller work. Thanks Burke
I always flash on the fly. I have had no problems even though they do not recommend it. I have the OCZ LE. With all the negative posts about OCZ, my knuckles are worn off with all the knocking on wood I've done.

Does anyone experience increased fan RPM when you Lock your screen in Windows 7? I can't think of anything enabled (or disabled) during this time that would elicit this.

I had so much work and then you can post twice.

Today I have a picture with all the differences created (see Spoiler! ). The image is very large, so please also scroll to the right!

Only then did I realize a "Bios Mod" alone can not help.
Even with "PM45" there are "Quad Support" and "not Quad-support". "PM45 not Quad support " corresponds to "PM965". (apart from 1066MHz to 800MHz)
Amazing RickiBerlin. You must be given a Doctor status for the Dragon.

What do you mean by "flash on the fly" specifically.

Flash the drive while logged into Windows.

I see now that I don't have the current firmware, OCZ Technology , but as you can see, they even say "please back up". There is no requirement but your level conscience
