I would try QX9300 but right now I am concerned about 280M to fully working and overall power consumption (watt meter during that furmark burn-in gived me a 140W+, my X9000 was on 2.8GHz, I fear overclocked CPU and 280M I may reach really close to 180W)
You are doing more than your share with your great work on the 280m gtx!

    All hail no-tech!

I have, a q9000 quad, I am interested to attempt the test !
But have need for more info!
FSB downclock mod on the intel GL960 and GL40 --- useful info for PLL Modders
PLL Pinmod Overclocking Methods and Examples
    What wire gauge ?
    Is wire insulated ?
Is it pressed in to socket?
"CPU BIOS microcode injection" it would be wise to do this before the attempt.
I have no experience in Bios mod or injection.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Please look at the picture on first thread you have listed. You need to put a wire into the socket. What is concerning cpu microcode to support quads on HDX i was not able to find which decompressed BIOS component is responsible for that. I need to dissassemble each component and check. I'm concentrating my efforts to provide working bios for 280m video card in our lappy.

OUR? If that signature is an indication, I'd like to officially welcome to the Dragon family! I could just be totally off base as well. Can't say I know what a h3xu5 is.

    @AlphaHeX
    Cześć
Appreciate the work you are doing,(280m video card).
I have looked close at photo.
looks to me to have potential for short circuit .
    Dziękuję

AlphaHeX has been around since "back in the day".

Previous attempts of running a 1066Mhz FSB CPU didn't do the BSEL pinmod which is critical for the chipset to allow the system to boot. See FSB downclock mod on the intel GL960 and GL40 --- useful info for PLL Modders for confirmations of running a 1066Mhz CPU on a 965PM chipset.
    Thank you for that link!
The "QX9300" by the four cores would be the only viable alternative for all 1066 processors. (apart from Q9100 ES ") All other CPU would not be better than the X9000.

But what do you say to the pin change (compared to C2D), which is described in the "Document of the Intel quad-CPU"? See PDF page 66 Table 15!

    Do you see a problem?

Table 15 is New Pins for the Quad-Core Mobile Processor. These are monitoring/debugging pins. I'm assuming these are added to pins that were reserved in the C2D.

If this works then viable upgrades for a HDX9000 would be X9100 and QX9300, both with unlocked multipliers. Could also do a lower Q9xxx + PLL TME-unlock + software overclock. The X9100 has the higher chance of working since it's very similar to a X9000. Benefit is that a X9100 is cheaper and more common than a X9000.
