Can anyone recommend a good safe overclock for the 8800M GTS?

You can also get a Momentus XT which has a write speed of 100mbps as good as an ssd but smaller price and 500gb.

this should be the part number for the display: 452300-001
I've only seen it once on ebay and it was over £200. It will be the most expensive component of the hdx.

I have upgraded the base plastics of my hdx once and swapping the screen was easy but getting the wires in their right place takes time and requires loads of photos.
Yep, based in UK. Coventry, although I work in York during the week.

I'll defo look at the momentus xt because ssd's tear holes in wallets.

I've looked all over the internet for the '452300-001' - and all sellers are from USA. The only one from UK I have found is:
HP 446563-7B1 LAPTOP LCD SCREEN 20.1" WUXGA N201J4-L01 | eBay

'446563-7B1' - is this a hoax or an original hp replacement product?

Cheers for the advice, I'll replace things one by one. Maybe the processor first as its cheaper. Then the display somewhere along the line.

Your proposal is not a solution. Even with your suggested settings (NVPMM), the "HDX" crashes with new drivers. I have tested this several months ago.

One advantage-the crash can be delayed. But he comes.

That's odd, as I've been running it at full processing power for the last several days. Doing 3dmarks benchmark, ThrottleStop, etc... I'm using the 280.26 driver with the modded INF file from laptopvideo2go and it's been working better than I could have ever hoped for. In fact, it hasn't BSOD'd, crashed, locked up or burst into flames (YET)! Knock on wood... In any case, you obviously want to be careful, but the 280.26 drivers APPEAR to be stable with the modded INF. I don't mean to be a pain in the butt, and I'm not nearly as knowledgable as most of ya'll, but for some VERY ODD reason, this is working out (so far). I'd suggest giving it a try, you may be suprised and happy with it - assuming it works for ya!

Sorry for the trouble & bothering ya'll!

    Want to experience a crash?
Then do the following: Use your HDX with battery! Use Internet Explorer and go online. Read pages with flash. Scroll it with the arrow keys. Also use multiple tabs.
Your "HDX" will crash before the battery runs out.

With power supply operating the same thing happens, it just takes a little longer.

With surfing, the error will occur faster. With automatic GPU clock adjustment (Powermizer in progress) of the crash will also occur faster.

In the opposite conclusion, however, unfortunately not this hot, "Powermizer off" and no browser like no crash.

The HDX can also work five days without a crash. (depending on usage) The crash with drivers newer than 257.21 but comes to 100%.

Any real problem solving welcome you!

After searching the whole network, I've finally spoke with Zipekdg,
he shared with me some useful information:

He had official HP HDX bios, probably F41, nothing changed even video bios card was original (Clevo).
Were cases with 280M GTX the laptop would not turn on, sometimes after several attempts of turning it on and sometimes not, besides he dont know why laptop with that videocard turned on only when the battery was disconnected.

On second attempt, he borrowed card from his friend, and during benchmarks he smelled something and few seconds later laptop turned off, motherboard burned near power in and port of video card and video card itself
note: he didnt do any heatsink mod that time and card reached above 100C on stress.

I really don't know why his system was the only one that loaded succesfully video bios card, skipping internal 8800M vbios.

Personally I think we need to investigate further, with vbios injection (if this is even possible, as bios is always made corrupted at this stage during repack).
I need my main laptop to be fully functional.. So I will give it a little more weeks then will sell the card if not reaching any succesfull result.

I've read my old posts, I think you should look into F33 CPU fan seemed OFF on idle but I may be wrong..

About HDX Bios, 3 bmp's files have different extensions, what do you think, do they need to be fixed or can be replaced by bigger picture?

    You may go up to:
    Core ~610
    Shader ~1600
    Memory ~950
These were safe for my 8800M GTS, of course your results may vary depending on GPU quality, power inlet quality, temperature room, thermal paste quality, etc..

So your dragon didn't experience any unusual heat with 280m? That is, if you knew it were ever on full pipelines.

Nice to hear Zipekdg is genuine I knew my profiling skills hadn't waned
