Re: *OFFICIAL: HP HDX 9000 DRAGON Owners Lounge 2*
Haven't posted in a very long time, but I see that a fellow Dragon owner with the ATI board is having sound issues. A year ago I updated to win7 64. Back then I had the F39 BIOS (currently on F40 OCed). My sound is fully functional using driver version 6.10.5607.0. Yes even the sub is working. Also all of the quickplay buttons are working, eject and all. The reason I responded is to assure you it can and does work with win7. A couple years ago I had intermittent sound which was the result of a cold solder joint on the audio board under the mouse pad. Point being that maybe you have a new hardware problem that should be tested. To get my system working I followed the help from the old thread as 2.0 suggested.

Quick question: does the OS affect component temperatures, or just the BIOS?

Re: *OFFICIAL: HP HDX 9000 DRAGON Owners Lounge 2*
It's exactly what happened to me. Same drive, same symptoms, and I could also watch some blu-rays, but that was about it. I'm not sure if it were 1.04, but the firmware was impossible to implement.
Fortunately:
1) Open your optical drive and check for large lint---remove
2) Dab the softest cotton swab--tightly woven are best--with distilled water and then dab the optical drive lens with it so that a water bulge covers the entire lens (do not overflow). The water bulge is only ideal.
3) Dab another cotton swab just so that it is barely moist and then, absorbing from the center point first, gently remove the water from the lens. Wipe around the circumference, and then wait several minutes until the remaining moisture evaporates. Distilled water will not leave water marks. Alcohol is actually a little harmful to lens' chemistry.
4) Repeating this process is suggested to ensure best cleaning
.....and I've had no problems since. Here is an esteemed citing in case you need reassurance:
