Default Envy 14 Screen Pinkish Hue

Do you notice a pinkish hue on the sides or anywhere else on your screen? If so, how much does it bother you?

A good way to test it is to go to this page:

    http://www.aquarius-laser.com/html/i...ite_screen.jpg

For me personally, I am going to have to RMA my notebook, if this isn't an isolated issue. I hope this can be repaired or fixed somehow. If not, then I will have to go to my other notebook choice, Macbook Pro 15". I can't stand constantly seeing a pinkish hue if I go to any page that is white, like this forum for example. To the left of this post, I definitely see it as very slightly pink, like an "off pink". Whenever I go to Google.com, Engadget, and Facebook, I really notice the pink while I'm browsing around. I am a little anal about color fidelity and this bothers me a LOT. When I also go to AndroidForums.com, the pink hue makes the navy blue on the sides turn into a dark violet.

I had this problem and just RMA'd my notebook. It was actually a green spot followed by a pink spot to the right.

The replacement came today and doesn't have the problem at all. It does have the weird 'rainbow liquid' when you look at it from a strong angle to the side, but other users reported the effect disappearing or evaporating after a couple days. I'll give it a week to settle and see if its still there.

Wow I can't believe this is a problem enough for you guys to RMA it.
Try turning down the brightness or stop staring until white screens for so long... its bad for eyes anyways

On my computer the effect was much more noticeable when the screen intensity was lower. When viewing the forums, about 1/3 of the page looked slightly green, then there was a big pink area directly beside it. It was obvious enough that a friend at work noticed it without being prompted.

My screen is perfect on mine. I do not have any rainbow spots on mine as seen by others.

My viewing angles are amazing, maybe around 160 degrees, the colors tend to get a very slight pinkish color on it, but it is only slight and still fully viewable.

I will post a full review tomorrow on my laptop, with lots of pictures. I believe my screen is perfect, so others who have problems will be able to compare it to my screen.

The thing for me is... so many websites that I look at are in white (Facebook, Engadget, Youtube, Google as some examples). It's not like I can change them. I think I will have to have HP just send me a new one for replacement to see if the new one has the same issue.

Also, does anyone recommend a good screen calibrator? I really need to calibrate the colors of this screen because it seems quite off as compared to the Macbook Pro's screen. The colors on the Macbook Pro looks a lot closer to the true colors in stock.

What is the picture that people use for screen colors? I believe it is a hot air balloon.

Whoa I just noticed this today and I was wondering whether other people had this problem. Was it always there or did it appear over time? I thought for a moment that maybe the heat from the right side (it can get a bit hot when gaming) made the screen change there.

And to the guy saying it's not a big deal, well you are looking at the screen constantly, and having one side of it be pink is really annoying. I take it you don't use Word/write emails/program at all? Most of those programs have white backgrounds. I'm not changing the background of Word to black for an issue that shouldn't be there.

Here is a relatively inexpensive option.

Datacolor - Global Leader in Color Management Solutions

They have several different lines, but even the lowest express version provides software and a hardware device that detects the colors being displayed on the screen.

Here is a video of some guy using the express software.

How to calibrate your monitor for accurate colours | Videos | PhotoRadar

looks very simple, very cheap, and it's not a one off, you should be able to use that, or any other similar device to calibrate most of your screens.

I noticed the same difference in the color too in one of the videos comparing the envy 14 screen to the mp 15 screen, looks like the out of the box settings may need tweaking on some models.
