When HP has had shortages of something in the past, they just delayed shipments and build dates.

It's a complete mystery to me why they took away the i5 and now they have taken away the i7.

HP has been kicking around the Envy 15-1200 CTO service manual for several months now, it's about time for them launch the thing. if the most recent version is accurate; however, there would be no backlit keyboard and the only difference is the option to order i7-740, i7-840 and a couple more i5 processors that you couldn't order before, as well as a possible ATI 5730 GPU option.

so its nothing really worth worrying about not getting anyway, different processors and a downgraded GPU option

I'm hoping this is the case, and they launch it soon. It would solve my whole replacement problem with them. Ah well, nothing to do but wait and see.

I was thinking about getting an Envy 15 with the specs listed in your signature. Have you had any problems with overheating?

I have a similar system. No problems with heat after BIOS update to F.2A and a clean install. Just FYI though, the battery life is 1:45 MAX with the 6 cell.
