Yeah, I would have preferred 13.3 or even 14.1". 14.5" is a little bigger than I wanted, but I like the specs on the rest of the machine. Compromise, compromise!

Looks like a pretty sweet product - SF turns out some pretty nice stuff from time to time, especially of the eco-friendly variety. I didn't see any 14.5" laptops listed in the HP section, either the Envy or DV5x series, but if you email them with the Envy's dimensions they should be able to fit you. Just make sure that you send the correct dimensions for your battery situation - i.e. slice or no-slice, since that will probably impact the size you want to get.

He ordered an external monitor along with his Envy, that's the shipping he's referring to.

To be fair, that's coming from a warehouse in the States, not from a factory in China. Speaking of which, I wonder where they assemble the Envy line. I live a couple clicks away from a Foxconn plant, but I believe they do more Mac stuff, along with their own name-brand parts...

Hmm, interesting. I might just go with the 450m than. What exactly are the differences? Just a lower clock speed?
EDIT: scratch that, they have the same clock speed. Now I'm confused, haha...

I don't know if an American could pull that bag off. Any better than I can pull off communicating in German anymore - blast the slow drain of disuse!

Personally, I've got the 14.5" Link Pattern sleeve coming - at around $25 with the student- + notebook purchase- + instant rebate- discounts, I figured it was worth checking out. I'm not sure how much use it'll get since I ride my bike everywhere, and I generally need more space (i.e. my messenger bag) when I go to work or travel, but I'd like to give the sleeve concept a go anyway.
I've become a fan of Tom Bihn bags. I am looking forward to sliding the Envy into my Buzz bag. Seems like a perfect match.

Yes, they are for all intents and purposes exactly the same. Sadly that information could have saved me $100 at the time of ordering : (

    Hey guys and gals
Im in the process of currently looking for a new laptop and the Envy 14 popped up in conversation. Sorry if these have been asked before but

    1) When will it be available in the UK and how readily available will it be? I realise it's not even out in the US yet so I can only imagine we're talking months rather than weeks

    2) How much is it going to cost?

    3) I've been on the UK HP website and had a look around, found some snippets of info but could only find an Envy14 with 1366 x 768 resolution, are there any that are planned to have an i5 and a slightly higher resolution? Maybe 1600 x 900 or something?

Cheers everyone, i'll be keeping my eye firmly focused on the forums for now on!

I found an absolutely beautiful McKlein bag in a really nice Chestnut colored leather at the Macy's near my home for $85. It was a steal at that, and I think its gonna be perfect for my Envy, based on the published measurements.
