the 620m is a dual core, that is less powerful than the 720m... i think they messed up on the pricing

I think they're hoping consumers choose it thinking it's the best option or base their decision off clock speeds only. Either way, it's ridiculous. You could just buy the base i5 and replace it with the Arrandale i7 for half the price of the upgrade and you'd still have the i5 to sell.

I agree! It's hard to feel sorry for those consumers though. They're either rich, ignorant, or both.

Who's excited about having Direct X11 in the 5830? Has anyone seen any benchmarks? I am primarily interested in transcoding AVCHD since I just bought an HD camcorder.

I agree that the 720QM should be priced higher than the 620M, but in all fairness notebookcheck places the 620M directly below the 720QM, dual core is fine for most everyone + higher clock speed, and its an Arrandale which means like the i5 Arrandales it will be capable of switchable graphics = great battery life

Yeah, for the reasons you stated, the 620 would be my choice over the quad-core i7s. The 620 is probably a better choice for most consumers. But what a premium HP is charging for it!

yeah, its probably because its a new option, give it week or two and the price should go down. (or could be due to availability of the 620M ?)

    Found this interesting power adapter...

Take the weird stand off and you have a very slim AC adapter along with USB charging. I seriously doubt 120W is necessary if you're not using the slice.

The price is a premium probably because of supply. Normal pricing for that processor should be at parity with the i1-720qm.
