Just a quick note in case anybody is interested. The single 500GB hard drive in this laptop has 2 partitions on it. The Local Disk C:\ and the RECOVER D:\. The C:\ has 413GB free of 453GB, and the D:\ has 1.98GB free of 11.7GB.

NOTE: This is based off of the Best Buy display model. Some of the space taken is Best Buy's display laptop security software.

    here is my config:
    Beats LE
    820QM
    8gb Ram(2 Dims)
    slice
    Intel x25-m G2 160gb SSD
Seagate Momentus 5400.6 500gb (ultra efficient storage)

Anyone doing dual SSD's in RAID 0? I would like to compare performance.
HP ENVY Beats Edition 160GB Intel X25-M G2/820qm/8GB(2dims) Envy 15 with Intel X25-m G2: Power off to online video
The information on on-line forums is worth every cent you paid for it. NOTHING.

$4,200 dollars loaded for the Envy?

I LOVE the 4 dimm and 16gb of ram..

I LOVE the slim fit battery...

    I LOVE the DreamColor screen..

I Hate its not an 18 inch touch screen with a QX-9700 chip option.

I Hate that it does not have a dual SSD / HDD option..

and I can NOT wait to see some real bench marks from the HP community, PLEASE?

Congrats to all the new owners!

    JW

ok im back from best buy. I have a crappy pic of it with my cellphone, but it doesnt show much. My impressions:

I honestly dont think im gonna get this thing. I really dont like the paisley etching. It is definitely an acquired taste. To me it looks quite different than a macbook. It looks like a macbook that was in a fire...like if has a dusty smoke look to it. Not looking like a mac is a huge plus for me by the way. The screen i am definitely not a fan of. Not sure if it was the lighting in best buy, but it was very hard to read. And yes i checked the brightness was maxed out. Just didnt pop at all to me. The biggest negative was the weight. THis thing feels way heavier than 5lbs to me. And when i put the slice on this thing is a beast! Does anyone have specs for the weight with the slice? Im not sure if it is because it is compact that kind of throws me off, but my wife called it HEAVY when she picked it up. The sound was nothing special either. I imagine that the experience needs to be with headphones. Im trying to cover all the bases here.... uhhh... oh it was one 500 gb harddrive as far as I could tell. The positive thing was that it was snappy as hell despite being on all day at best buy. Overall I was kinda let down. I know i have been b#$#@ about the lack of OD and the price, but for regular price (1999) it just doesnt do it for me. I feel like at 1999 it should floor me. It felt underwhelming. Oh and the screen doesnt open all the way either. Pet peeve. I hope im not crashing the party. Those who caught the deal i think still have a great buy on their hands. I just wouldn't pay full price for it.

oh and last thing. Trackpad was tricky...very tricky!

ok last thing for real. Not that i could push it all, but i felt no heat from it. But the slice kept faling off pretty easy. Not sure if there is a lock to it cuz best buy has it locked to the table.

It allows for dual hard drives. You just have to install the second one yourself for now. Just gibe it some time and the option to configure it with 2 hard drives will be here.

So if I understand correctly the difference between two envy 15 modifications offered in UK is battery slice, 4 more gb of RAM and a bigger HDD and that bumps up the price by 400£? What if I need only the slice and don't care about the god damn HDD (will be replaced by 2 SSD's anyway) and RAM? Has anyone else except me tried to reason with them? Like are they thinking about that 768p screen? To tell the truth I have no patience with those imbecils, that 768p screen is just insulting.

If we are continuing the "Who bought an Envy 15", thread, I guess I'll be number 13. I configured mine with i820, 8 GB RAM (4 2 GB sticks), Blu-Ray OD, 4 year Lo-Jack coverage. Gonna add a 120 GB OCZ Agility SSD, clone/ghost the 500 GB stock drive's contents, and make the SSD the system drive and reformat the 500 for data storage.

I just want it to be able to last me, I'm replacing a 6 3/4 year old desktop and a 6 1/4 year old laptop with it.
