    • Updated Intel Rapid Storage Technology to version 11.0.0.1032 (thanks ricktendo64).
    • Updated Ralink RT3090 WiFi Adapter driver to version 3.2.7.0 (thanks chootmarani).

The updated Intel RST package is directly from Intel. The INF files are also available separately.

    Waiting for an official release...

    to sum up:

    1. i download the packages hp and amd (optional) + the original drivers (in case something goes wrong)
    2. in device manager, i unistall the ati + intel drivers
    3. i reboot
    4. i click on the hp package and install the new drivers (that will install new drivers for both cards)...maybe reboot if asked
    5. Optional : install the amd drivers (12.1 i think) on top of the HP package. But in the release notes they mention that it is not compatible with switchable graphics.

If something goes wrong, i unistall again both drivers (intel/ati), reboot in safe mode and install the original ones...

One last thing...all this procedure is done with my bios setting on "fixed" and the ati card chosen all the time...

Hope this will work...if you confirm of course...

    Thx again !!!

PS: just visited HP site and the sp55092.exe is available for download. According to their instructions, i don't have to unistall the old drivers...

Yup, that looks right. If something goes wrong, I would recommend that you uninstall in safe mode and then re-install the HP-provided package in normal mode.

@serious_joker: Try to follow these procedures as well.

justin, thanx a lot for your help

    i think i have a problem
executed the sp55092.exe, chose custom with everything ticked (display drivers, ccc etc.)
then it started installing the drivers and after few seconds, black screen...

after sometime, i forced power off and booted in safe mode....
there, i unistalled the drivers for ati and intel and rebooted...
and then, the original drivers were automatically installed by windows without giving me any time for selecting the new ones...

what am i doing wrong ?

    (Avast was disabled)

    thanks again

How long did you wait after the black screen occurred before turning the computer off?

Also, given where you currently are in the installation process, try executing sp55092 now and see if it installs the drivers. Make sure no external monitors are connected during the installation. The installation process will take a few minutes, so be patient.

ok, so i run sp55092 again, and in catalyst install manager i choose custom.
Everything is ticked (px profile, amd app sdk, display driver etc.)

Installation begins and after sometime, black screen like when in hybernation...i wait 10 to 15 minutes to see if anything happens (which it doesn't) so i switch off...

I reboot, go to device manager and for for both cards the driver is 8.882.2.3000 which is the sp55092 one.

Next move is to run again catalyst install manager since everything else did not update (black screen came before installing the other components).
In custom, i choose everything else excepte the drivers, and everything went smooth. CCC was perfectly updated.

Out of curiosity, I go again to cat.manager, choose custom and there everything is up to date except the display drivers which are ticked and read "current version not installed".

So, i wonder if even so, everything is ok, considering also that In dxdiag and device manager everything seems correct and stable (even tried a game). Would that be just a recognition problem from catalyst install manager ?

Another question i have is if i run the 12.1 package, do i have to update only the display drivers or i can also update all the other components found in the install manager ? and should i better go to device manager and choose custom installation and go search the W76a INF folder ?

thanks a lot for your time !!!

If the 12.1 package includes an updated component, you will have the opportunity to install it - this includes the driver and any other components that the installer discovers.

I recommend that you use the AMD installer - do not try to use the Device Manager or Update Driver wizard unless you are encountering a problem with the AMD installer.

thx justin for your assistance !

I installed the 12.1 package without black screen and the ati drivers (+all the other components) updated smoothly. Funny thing though, windows update asks me now to download drivers for my 6770m dated april 2011. Of course i didn't.

    Help me clarify something please.
When the next 12.x package comes out, can i update it on top of the 12.1 or do i have to reinstall the hp ones (sp55092) and then update it ?
Also, if i simply want to roll back to the hp ones, i only have to run the catalyst manager setup found in the sp55092 and that's all.

Yes - when a new Catalyst driver package becomes available, you can update on top of 12.1.

If you want to roll back to the HP drivers, I recommend that you first uninstall all of the components using the installer. Once this is done, run sp55092.

    Hi!

I finally figured out how to upgrade BIOS in my laptop from the F.02 to the F.12 version; I had to delete the HP_TOOLS partition, where all the info and certificates aboat the current, previous and new BIOS is stored. However, you do not need to delete it, you can also just rename it.
