Default PROBLEM with presario v2710us battery

I bought a compaq presario v2710us and the battery only lasts for about 48 minutes with only web browsing. Is this normal? I thinks its a 6 cell battery. Thanks

If it's new then it is not normal.

Has it always been like that? Have you disabled CPU throttling? (Power Options, should be to portable/laptop)

I bought this laptop new from compusa in early august 2006. It has always been like this since it was new. My laptop also doesnt display the remaining time of the battery life it only displays the percentage.

You may have received a dud, or the cells were already aged when you got them. You should contact HP and ask for a new battery.

Assuming they give you one, make sure to follow a few simple care and maintenance tips as outlined in the battery guide.

As far as the battery % remaining vs. battery time left, that's generally different from system to system. Sometimes there will be a BIOS upgrade that will allow for the switch you're looking for.

It should be covered under warranty for a year.
