Re: DV6000Z current/prospective owners thread
being totally honest, there is no reason for this thread, nor is there any reason to get a dv6000z over a dv6000t. I mean, if you go to the home page and look on the left side of the screen today, 10-20-06, you will see that at the top of the list, is the hp dv6000t in 1st place! Now go allll the way down to the bottom, and the dv6000z is in last place. I mean, I love AMD, but they're offerings for laptops are just not up to snuff.
Especially with the core 2 duo's out (I have one), there is no reason to get this laptop, period. No reason to make this thread therefore (other than if you got the 6000z long time ago, which in case I feel sorry for you).

Re: DV6000Z current/prospective owners thread
Really? Show me where on HP's site I can get a machine for 870, intel based, with a graphics card better than the intel 950, 80 gigs of HDD space, 1 gig of ram, 2 year warranty, and a 1.8ghz processor. You probably can't.I love AMD, but they're offerings for laptops are just not up to snuff.

Re: DV6000Z current/prospective owners thread
I think everyone knows that the 6000t is more popular than the 6000z but just because it is 15th on the list does not mean it is unpopular. There are a lot more than 15 laptops in this world and the fact that it made the list at all shows that there are people interested in it and that this is a perfectly appropriate thread for those who have it and want to talk about it.

Re: DV6000Z current/prospective owners thread
I dont think it is correct to assume what is a good option for one is the same for another. 95% of the laptop users dont really need/make full use of power the Core 2 Duo or even the Core Duo or the Turion has to offer. Battery life has been traditionally been better with Intels, but depending on how much battery life, budget & overall specs a buyer needs the Turion is a very atrractive option.
Also if you thought people arent buying the Turion just because the Core 2 Duo is faster, you cannot be more wrong. The sales of Turion64 increased by 50% this quarter taking into account the Core Duo and the Core 2 Duo were already in the market...

Re: DV6000Z current/prospective owners thread
miner brings up a good point. People like me, the sempron already is more power than I need. Dual core? Even moreso. And if the Turions are 10% slower but offer an equally as much discount in price, if not more, who cares? i can live with an application taking 125 seconds to process data instead of 117.

Re: DV6000Z current/prospective owners thread
ive had intels in all my computers so i wanted something different, yeah the core 2 duo's are out but they are also more expensive i really dont need the power saving technology that the core 2 offers since i'll be near a outlet 99% of the time, and as far as one being more popular than the other doesnt mean jack to me, in fact id rather have something that less people have, and aslong as im happy with it thats all that matters.

Re: DV6000Z current/prospective owners thread
Let us know how you like your DV6000z when you get it. Maybe you could post a review. I think the z gets a bum rap because of its X2 processor, but I think the way most people use their laptops you would not notice any difference so I think you made a good decision on it. Enjoy!
