Thanks Evancg for the coupon code. I used it last night and my order is cheaper than ordering from Costco.com. Costco has 3 months for return and extends the warranty to 2 years but it costs $170 more. I have to make sure my laptop trouble-free for the first year. I had a HP ZV6000 for more than 2 years already and it's still running like a rock. If I have to ship my laptop to HP for repair during the first year, do I have to pay for the shipping fee? Does it worth to pay for extended warranty from HP? From my experience with my own desktops and laptops (at work or at home), if it works without any problem in 1 year, it will work till you want to throw it to the trash can. I still have a Compaq 2100 laptop that my wife bought it 10 years ago. It has K6 AMD CPU and 64M RAM. It's still running with Windows ME and surfing the net thru wireless USB.

I'm expecting my dv6000t to arrive any day now and I have a few questions...

    * How does the high-capacity 6 cell battery (which I ordered) compare to the standard 6 cell and the 12 cell (e.g. hours of use, amps/volts, etc.)?

    * I have an external usb hdd I want to boot from temporarily. Does the stock BIOS support this?

    * Will my two internal mics support stereo recording or just monophonic?

    * Why do I feel like a child on Christmas Eve waiting for the damned thing to arrive?

Is there a big performance difference between the T2250 and the T5200? Just wondering. Also, how long has it taken everyone to get their laptops? Mine says the estimated date is April 18th...but it says "Order in production" right now. Maybe it'll come sooner!

Short of opening up the notebook, I've heard good things about this program:

    or freeware:

Just ordered a DV6000t yesterday. Unfortunately it says it isnt estimated to ship until April 25th and then it is 5-7 shipping days until I get it over 3 weeks I got to wait. Does it always take this long? I used to work for Dell Home Sales so I know we were told we had to say the estimated shipping date was ON or BEFORE the date the computer would spit out to us based on product availability. But I am hoping some of you can tell me if you really had to wait that long or if they say that and it ships sooner. Im anxious.

Also I screwed up and clicked on the Core Duo instead of the Core 2 Duo. Called and they said it would take 5-7 days to receive a refund and then I would have to re-order it. So I just told her I would take the Core Duo instead of having to re-order the whole thing. I was thinking they could just change the order before it got to the factory for building but I guess not. I hope that it isnt a HUGE difference in power. I got 2GB of RAM and I read that Core DUO is more battery friendly to Notebooks than the Core 2 DUO because it takes less power consumption.

Anyway ... any word on average build times would be appreciated. I am really excited to get my new toy!!! JUST like X-Mas
