I currently have a 1.4ghz Celeron M processor, so the Core Duo at 1.73 GHZ/2MB L2 Cache should be lightning fast for me, right?

    Matt
That is saying allot. Gimp is a resource hog, almost as much as Photoshop. I use both programs, since I cannot get Photoshop to handle .png to .jpg file transitions. On my 6 month old desktop i have to close one before opening the other, but now I can run them both seamlessly at the same time.

I played with a few rigs at CompUSA all of which had 1 GB and various processors, the 5200 (1.6GHz) and the 5600 (1.8GHz) and they all did well enough, running Aero and whatnot. However, I didn't get to run any really intense programs like PS or GIMP, or one of my most intense programs CCE-SP (a DVD encoder program).

Of course I recommend 2 GB, just because Vista is a hog, but it seems for more modest computing 1GB is acceptable.

My 2.8GHz Pentium 4 desktop processor takes a serious spanking from my 1.83GHh Core 2 Duo, so yeah... that is a monstrous jump. Most of your benefits will be in the area of multi-tasking, but as an all around there will also be a significant boost.

I ordered mine on the 9th and it was estimated to ship on the 20th (today). It still shows as "Order in production". Did you get an email that it had shipped with a tracking # or did it just show up at your door? Also, what part of the country are you in? Thanks

    Hi NeedALap,

If you go to HP site and look at their "Recommended" config ... you'll see they are only using the Intel Grpahic 950.

    http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/sh...dv6000t_series

Now ... I hear from folks here that if you are planning to do a lot of Graphic and Heavy Gaming ... then get the Nvidia ... "Dedicated" card ... and by the way, it is only $49 more ... so ...

But if you decide to stay with Intel one ... choose the "Free Upgrade" to "Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 - Core" that gives you additional productivity ports, including 5-in-1 card reader ...

    Hope this helps!
    G!

    Hey Rock & Ultimas,

    The 12 Cell Battery ...

Q1: is it really worth the extra $?
Q2: Is it even needed if someone plans to mostly (99.5%) of the time be plugged into the wall!?!?

    Thanks,
    G!

    Hi SandT,

Do you think there would be a Performance increase from T5600 (1.8GHz) to T7200 ... assuming memory and everything else is the same?
You know for programs like CCE-SP and HCEnc, ... and AVI conversions and vice versa?

    G!
