Envy 15 vs. Pavilion dv6t (urgent)
Taking advantage of the new coupon (NBY8552), I am trying to buy the laptop ASAP.
I am not a previous Hp owner (currently using Dell), so I don't know the differences between the Envy or Pavilion series.
Specs I want for the Pavilion dv6t-7000:

Specs I am getting for Envy 15

I upgraded the Envy 15 to 8 gb ram from its 6 gb default so I could compare the two. But as I am not too tech savvy, I need your help. Should I change any of the features in either laptop? Soon going to be a medical student, money is definitely an issue, so is Envy 15 worth the extra $200 or should I go for the Pavilion?

Re: Envy 15 vs. Pavilion dv6t
Common question, the Envy 15 costs more mostly due to the premium design and all aluminum chassis it has, when you receive it the Envy also has nicer packaging and a free sleeve for the laptop. The HP dv6 doesn't look quite as nice and uses more plastic in the construction. The graphics card you have in the Pavilion dv6t (Nvidia 650M) is quite powerful and could suit well for gaming, if you don't care about gaming you might think about downgrading to the Nvidia 630m to save cash, it's plenty powerful enough for average needs. The AMD graphics card in the ENVY is actually less powerful than the Nvidia 650m so if you do actually care about gaming capability then that would be one reason to lean towards the Pavilion. The ENVY 15 comes with a DisplayPort output along with HDMI, DisplayPort allows for output to two external displays, HDMI does not. The ENVY 15 has a standard 2-year warranty, I believe the dv6t-7000 Quad is just 1-year. Finally, the ENVY 15 1920 x 1080 screen is an IPS panel with wide viewing angles, the Pavilion dv6t-7000 has a nice 1920 x 1080 screen but it is not the same IPS technology used in the Envy. I've used and reviewed both the HP dv6t-7000 and Envy 15-3000 and prefer the Envy 15 for its looks but you really can't argue or beat the price of the dv6t-7000, it's one of the best price to feature laptops on the market IMHO.
