Re: whats a good model with beats audio?
I just bought an HP M6-1045dx at Best Buy today.
It has a 15.6" screen, i5-3210M Intel Ivy Bridge, 8 Gb RAM, 750 Gb hard drive, Intel Wifi, Intel Wireless Display, backlit keyboard, fingerprint reader, Bluetooth, webcam, media card reader, 3 USB 3.0 ports, 1 USB 2.0 port. Weight = 5.3 lbs and 1" thick.
The Beats audio is great. Speakers have great imaging and full sound. And they play loud. I am coming off an Asus notebook with a Core 2 Duo so this HP is blazing fast to me.
One concern I had as aa former HP owner was heat. This machine is cool as can be. The air from the exhaust vents is barely warm. This machine has a feature called CoolSense. Inside is an accelerometer which detects when the computer is moved and causes the fan to run on high. The theory is if you use the computer on your lap, as I do, you will shift it if the bottom gets too hot, hence the increased fan speed. It's been on my lap for hours and CoolSense has not been invoked so I guess I sit too still.
In any event, it can easily disabled via the Control Panel.
All this for $699.99. In my opinion, the HP M6 is a compelling buy.
Of course, keep in mind that today is its first day with my use and the real test is reliability and longevity which I won't know for a while. I used my previous computers for three and five years so my expectations are high.
