Nope not buying an HP again. (even passed on some pretty affordable Elitebooks).

Read my HP hell posts to find out why.
Luckily I've saved many people the hassle of owning HP.

we use HP at work the quality is dropping a bit over the years no doubt.

still there consumer laptops don't look to bad id be tempted to take a punt if the price is right (silly cheap)

I'd buy another HP before many other OME's & at the moment I'm using a DV6-6135tx & it's better than good.

We had warranty repairs needed with 2 of the HP's in this household, within a week we had the parts delivered, a battery & a hard drive . If I need drivers I can go to their site and get them easily. In the past 6 months I had another brand new laptop I won't say which, but getting drivers or bios was almost impossible & many on that laptops forum site had a hard time get service.

I use it to surf, vid's, writing documents & playing game, eg ~ BF3, COD 3, counter strike and other games.

To the OP I see you got a laptop with the HD 7690M which is problematic, hopefully they will sort it out soon.

    Maybe!
    DV8 has so beautiful design.
It has nVIDIA GT230M , i7 720QM but executes Cod-MW3 excellent (on full hd ultra settings)
But intel's new core architectures are so warm : Nehalem , sandy bridge , Ivy bridge.
and it make most of hp laptops warm
I think because hp has designed all the notebooks with small input/output air vents.
and you need a powerful coolpad.

The issue with cooling has to do with HP's inadequate R/D department being about as blind as Apple to Thermals.
HP has had some of the worst conceived cooling systems I've seen (albeit the worst would have to go to the Toshiba Portege R700~ by far).

Well... just purchased a Folio 13 for work so yes I'd, yet again, buy another HP machine.
