Default Question about integrated graphics card driver updates

    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sear...Chipset+Family

I went here to update my Mobile Intel 965 Express Family Chipset, but every time I do so an error message pops up during installation and says it will exit the setup.

I don't know what's going on. I've also seen multiple names for this chipset which confuses the hell out of me.

Any more details you guys need I'll be more than happy to supply.

Click on "Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit" and "Drivers" for the two columns.

EDIT: When I tried updating the driver the screen went to this ridiculously small resolution (about 1/10th or 1/8th of the screen was visible) and then it flashed back to the original resolution.

Did you uninstall the old driver before you tried installing the new driver?

(please make sure you have a copy of the old driver on hand just in case it will still not work)

Have any questions about MPC-HC or the Combined Community Codec Pack? (click for web chat)
For video playback: xy-vsfilter & CCCP (use the bundled version of MPC-HC)

I was instructed by Device Manager to restart my computer. Upon start-up I was given this message twice:

"Error in igfxdev.dll, Missing Entry: UninstallTVWizard"

I did not uninstall the old driver because I am not sure how to copy it.

Sorry, but I have an HP Compaq (should have stated that before).

Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family Video/Graphics Driver Compaq Presario C700T CTO Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

(7.14.10.1318 A) This appears to be older than the driver I have now (7.14.10.1437), but the link in my original post says 15.12.4.1666. I also have no idea what that means...

It probably means you should leave it well alone. There is no performance boost to be gained with new Intel drivers because the chip itself is weak, so if it doesn't do anything horrible you should stick with the version HP offers.
    DV5-1120eh: Athlon X2 2GHz, 2GB DDR2, HD3470 512MB, 160GB, Atheros wifi, BT, IDT HD Audio, 15.4" WXGA, 8-cell, blah blah. Windows 7 Ult x64
    DV9000 (9750ed): Turion X2 2GHz, 2GB DDR2, 8400GS 256MB OC, 250GB, Broadcom wifi, BT, Conexant HD Audio, 17" WSXGA, 12-cell. Windows 7 Ult x64 ...and it was $300!!!
