Re: DV8000 Series - Keyboard problems. Anyone else?
It would help if people keep "what computer should I buy?" stuff out of this thread. It's already big enough. Pretty please.

So, jikingjunior, have you received your dv5000 and if so, have you had any problems so far? As a side note my 14 day exchange policy is up and my notebook is still kicking... so far. Hope my good fortune continues....

Re: DV8000 Series - Keyboard problems. Anyone else?
Well, it continues to be an issue, look over my BBB complaint:
http://www.sanjose.bbb.org/complaint...52043/c/kxkad7
All HP says is sorry for the issues... I finally got my box ( and I could have easily boxed it myself and asked for a return label, but you know what, when they promised 3 times they would send one, I am not going to take ANY more of my time with it. It's their issue). I am sending it in for round 2 today, and btw, my laptop came back from round 1 with scratches on the top, and fingerprints/dust all over the screen. I expect this round 2 will result in (prediction here), NPF report, and more scratches on my laptop.
I am calling my visa in the interim and asking what options I have there. This has been absolutely a horrid waste of my time, and my money.Current: Macbook Pro 15.4"| OS X Leopard| 2.6ghz| 4gb ram| 200gb 7200rpm hd| 256mb Nvidia 8600M GT| 1440x900 Display| Superdrive| Airport Extreme 80211.n/Bluetooth 2.0edr/Gigabit Lan

I agree with you. My laptop came back with the screen and lid scratched coverered in dust and fingerprints also. Sounds like the BBB just relays your info to them and their response to you, same bull you get talking to HP on the phone. Do let us know how your credit card responds.

Sorry, but I really want the opinions of people who were shafted, I don't know what forums they frequent, but judging my responses on the dv8000t before I found this thread, it's not the same people that come here.

Re: DV8000 Series - Keyboard problems. Anyone else?
I have had the dv8327cl that I purchased from Sam's Club for just under 2 weeks and I noticed the missing keystrokes in the second day or so but I thought I was just not hitting the keys right. It had gotten progressively more annoying, but after putting the scroll lock on it seems the problem has been resolved. I would hate to send it in because it sounds very likely I may get it back in worse shape... I definitely agree that this problem is unacceptable, you shouldent have to jerry rig a new product to get it to work correctly. Hope HP gets itself together on the QA side of things because the bang for the buck on this laptop is sweet.

Re: DV8000 Series - Keyboard problems. Anyone else?
I have had a dv8000 since May and have many of the same problems. At first I thought I just had to get used to new keyboard. But it does occasionally miss a chracter or fail to shift for a cap. And I do get the occasional very annoying stuck in caps lock (even though light is not on). Pressing shift, caps lock, ctrl a few times finally makes it go away. Grrrr.

Re: DV8000 Series - Keyboard problems. Anyone else?
I felt the same way about sending the computer back to HP but the problems continued to get worse. If you still can take it back to the retailer and get a different computer dump this fiasco as fast as you can. My son bought a great refurbished Toshiba that he has had for 2 years and it works beautifully, was less money than the dv8000 plague. I'm now counting 7 missing keystrokes that are consistently bad and when the caps lock goes on nothing will take it off. I don't see anyone else having the black screen problem that I do. All of a sudden the screen goes black, blue lights are all on, does not respond to any keystrokes, have to take the battery out. I think that there will be more surprises unfolding with this dodgy machine. My son warned me when I had the computer for a month to return it right away. If you want a laptop with a non-functioning keyboard than this is the machine for you. We're definitely getting banged for our buck. I'm praying my credit card will assist me in putting the pressure on HP for a refund after I return it for repair the 3rd time. This is also the 2nd dv8000 I've gotten, returned the 1st one to the retailer for the same problems. I wouldn't buy HP paper, every time I see their logo I cringe. It would help if people would print in their posts the emails they got from HP admitting the problem exists. They are still telling me that my is an isolated problem.

Re: DV8000 Series - Keyboard problems. Anyone else?
I definitely think people should start posting any emails they have in which HP admits the problem. The first HP tech guy that I talked to, admitted there were "a lot of people with the same problem," but my case manager told me she "hadn't heard anything about it." I even told both of them about all the people on the internet with the same problems. I don't have the proof of what they said in writing, but they did say it. I really hope my dv9000 doesn't have any problems! I don't really even know why I'm going back to HP after this... If there are any problems with my dv9000, I will never buy HP again and I will tell everyone else to do the same!
