    Default Drivers help

I'm thinking about formating and installing fresh, I have read the Out-Of-Box guide. But I have a little doubt. After installing OS, which drivers do I need to install. I mean, like there are two drivers available under Graphics for my laptop(HP dv6-1387tx). Similarly, for other categories like Network, there are more than one drivers listed. Which one should I choose? Should I install all under the categories. Since, I selected the exact model, all should be applicable to my laptop. Here's the link to all drivers and softwares -

If someone can help me with all that has to be installed out of the above drivers and softwares mentioned in the link, it'll be really helpful.

The 1st graphics driver is for the chipset and 2nd is the graphics driver itself.

    Install both.

I would say install all them until you reach the multimedia items and skip them and the rest below that.

    Thanks 2ippy for your reply.

But there are like 4 drivers in network, if I install them all, they might conflict?

What I suggest when you install fresh is that win7 will sort most of your drivers out.

have them all on a USB stick ready, and whatwindows does not find in your device manager. Install from USB.

Then it's just a case of picking what HP bits you might want.

I'm sorry but this is completely incorrect.
Only install the ATI Radeon drivers, the second download under graphics (that is what your laptop has)
DO NOT INSTALL THE INTEL DRIVERS LISTED UNDER GRAPHICS!!

For network, just install whatever shows up in windows update, or lookup your parts and download only the select (latest) drivers for the components you need

Last question - Do I need to install "LSI High-Definition Audio (HDA) Modem Driver for Microsoft Windows"?

Why it says High Definition Audio Modem?

I noticed the backup I made of my SWSETUP folder on C:/ has a folder in it called drivers.

Helped me get my bluetooth going again, and has all the drivers just for my laptop in without need to go on website.

Yeah, you can install it, its just the modem driver (it has the audio part im guessing because of the modem dial-up sound)

A few things before you even think of doing a clean install.
    1. Make recovery disks. HP has a program built in to do this.
    2. Make a copy of the SWsetup folder. It contains your drivers & some of your programs.
    3. Back up your activation information. I use Windows 7 Activation Backup Recipester for Win 7 & ABR for Vista.
    4. Become familiar with what hardware you have. In short, you will have to install chipset drivers, Intel Matrix Storage Technology Driver, video drivers, sound drivers, modem drivers, LAN & WLAN drivers, & any others for the harware you have. Make a list of your harware from the Windows Device Manager.

If any of the above isn't making sense to you, I would suggest you need to do some more research before trying this. Realistically, so long as you make the recovery disks, you can always restore your laptop to the "out of the box" state if it all goes wrong.
