HP dv5t dead
I purchased this dv5t laptop back in June 2008, and it has always been reliable. I just came back home from work & now I can't even turn the darn thing on. If I hold the power on button nothing happens. The Ac adapter is still working & I've tried taking out the battery, but that didn't help.
Any Ideas guys?

Re: HP dv5t dead
There are no lights or fans coming on. The AC Adapter plug lighting does come on though.

Re: HP dv5t dead
Try this. Launch the computer using your HP QuickLaunch button on the Panel or if you got the Media Remote, use that.
The source of the AC Light means your Motherboard isn't totally dead, so it leads down to the power button cable or assembly failed. If so and you can boot it up using the HP QuickLaunch method, you will need to replace the cable that triggers the power button.

Re: HP dv5t dead
Using the remote or quick launch button didn't help. I just don't get why it's not working though. Everything was fine the night before.

Re: HP dv5t dead
This is all too weird. I just finished talking to an Hp rep & I guess I'm either looking at a $390 repair or getting a new laptop all together.
