Re: HP 8540w and others are nearly here
I'm really interested in the 8540w model with 1600x900 and besides all the great features it will include I'm really happy that hp decided to keep the right hand side clear of usb ports. Since I'm right handed and tend to always have some usb plugged in charging or synching it annoys me that I have to compete for mouse position and the plugs. With that said I'm wondering if there are any similar spec'd laptops coming out soon? (15" 1600x900 i7)
Thanks

Dell Precision M4500 and Lenovo W510 will compete with the HP Elitebook 8540w, while the Dell Latitude E6510 and Lenovo T510 will compete with the HP Elitebook 8540p.

Just wait a couple more days (hopefully information will be disseminated on time)

Re: HP 8540w and others are nearly here
I looked up the W510, it seems mediocre compare to the 8540w specs. I would actually buy a w510 if it had the fx880 or fx1800 card in it, but they're all nvs 5100m cards. Doesn't seem appropriate for a workstation laptop does it?

Re: HP 8540w and others are nearly here
I seem to recall some discussion in the W510 owners lounge about what GPU actually shipped with that model, regardless of what the Lenovo website showed.
