Re: HP Pavilion dv8000t
The HP site says SDRAM, as in normal desktop RAM, versus SO-DIMM, right? Or am I just confused?

Re: HP Pavilion dv8000t
Yeah, you are confused, SDRAM and SODIMM arent the same. SODIMM is the memory outline or format used in laptops. In desktops they are just called as DIMM's. SDRAM is just synchronous dynamic random access memory which is capable of syncing with the bus speed. This is used in almost all memory no matter whether they are used in desktops or laptops.

Re: HP Pavilion dv8000t
I ordered a DV800T on 3/9 and the estimated ship date I was given was 3/28 but I received a notice this morning from HP that it has just shipped--five days early! I went with the 2-day delivery so I hope to see it on Monday.
I went with the higher resolution screen instead of the Ultra bright and I hope I made the right choice. I'm disappointed that they don't offer two 120GB drives with the Core Duo, only 100GB's. They do offer the bigger drives with the AMD CPU, so why not this one? Here's what I ordered:
- HP Pavilion dv8000t CTO NB
- Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Professional with SP2
- Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo processor T2500 (2.0 GHz)
- 17.0" WSXGA+ BrightView Wide Viewing (1680x1050)
- 128MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7400
- 2.0GB DDR2 SDRAM (2x1024MB)
- 200 GB 5400 RPM SATA Dual Hard Drive (100 GB x 2)
- LightScribe 8x DVD+/-RW&CD-RW Combo w/Double Layer
- Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network w/Bluetooth
- 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
I've never had a high-end notebook before; this will be my first. I've always used Dell Inspirons.

Re: HP Pavilion dv8000t
Quick question, the laptop tracking number has 12 digits, while the other tracking numbers have had 15. Is a 12 digit laptop tracking number common, or will I see a new number after the lappy clears customs?

Re: HP Pavilion dv8000t
Guys, I got mine yesterday. I have the XP Media Center SP2. The NVidia graphics driver seems to be having some problems -- I was running HP's diagnostics software, and it crashed when it came to the Graphics Card diagnostics. Anyone had a similar problem?
