HP Pavilion dv8000t

Can anyone please help me to find out what type of firewire chip the Pavillion dv8000t has. I know that the dv8000z has a Texas Instrument chipset, which is what I need for my external firewire audio interface. Can anyone that ownes a dv8000t please ceck. ( right clik My computer > properties > device manager and click on 1394).

What kind of warranties should we get for the dv8000t?

Anyone having random lockups and re-booting of their dv8000t? Received mine about a week ago and everything seems fine with it plugged in. Never crashes or freezes and it will go into and out of standby and hibernation fine when on AC.

When on battery power, it invariably freezes and then sometimes reboots on its own. If it goes into hibernation on battery power, I can't get it to come back without a hard reboot - holding the power button down. Any help with what could cause this would be appreciated.

And by the way, I ordered the dv8000z version first and returned it. I did open the HD bay on that to see if it had the bracket for the 2nd HD and it did not. I checked the HP parts listing for this rig and no HD bracket was listed. BUT, you could by a second HD with bracket aftermarket from HP for something like $300 big ones. No thanks.

Will also add I got the ultrabright with the "t" version vs the regular brightview in the "z". The ultrabright is awesomely bright. When on battery power, I can set it all the way down and still see the screen no problem. On AC, you almost can't take full brightness.

I had the same problems. I have the dv8235nr and it had the F.09 A BIOS. I did a BIOS update to the F.13A, and now it works with no problems. It looks like HP shiped these with out processor and Nvidia support and the BIOS update fixed that. However HP was no help in finding this out, I'm thinking I should call them and tell them they should pay me for the time I spent to find the fix!

I'm considering buying the dv8000t from CostCo, but I went on their web site and it doesn't mention a TV tuner or remote. pardon my ignorance, but if you're getting a laptop with Media Center on it, with no TV tuner...what's the point??

Media Center is chaeper than XP Pro, and offers better Media access. I love Media center as I don't have my laptop on a huge network and I watch movies on it all the time. I never watch TV for the most part so a TV tuner isn't needed in my case.

i placed my order last night friday june 16th. I am wondering how long it will take, the eta ship date is the 26th. I ordered through costco, were they pretty quick with it?

my dv8000t took 10 days from costco. (the 10 days include sat and sunday)

Pretty sure yours will arrive before 26th. Mine arrived 3 days earlier than eta shipdate I was given at time of order.
