Re: HP Envy 15? i7 meets 4830+15" screen!
If the keyboard is injected with some UV material then it will glow. But idk, Genryu is right, they should have advertised it more by now. So I doubt it is anything special. What I hate about advertising is that they are too much like movie previews, what you see is most often what you get. No unexpected "hey, didn't know that they added [I]that[I] in there"

Re: HP Envy 15? i7 meets 4830+15" screen!
Nice find. Those black matte models look nice though I want to see them in better lighting conditions. I wonder if that is a black plastic or an aluminum material?
Not sure about their facts though. I can understand maybe the Australian model might be a bit different but to have a "built in DVD burner" while our model in the US didnt? lol Too much of a difference there!
And I really think those prices are the Australia prices since everything we have read about the Envy 15 says they start around $1800

Re: HP Envy 15? i7 meets 4830+15" screen!
Hey guys,
First post!!!
I live and work here in Sydney Australia and work for a company called Harvey Norman (computer retailer).I can comfirm some details for you (suppliers arn't telling me anything more!!! I want one of these bad boys too!)
We have two models listed on our system:
Envy15-1015tx
core i7-720, 4gb ram, 500gb hd, 4830 1gb graphics -$2799 (aus dollars)
Envy 15-1021tx
core i7-820, 8gb ram, 500gb hd, 4830 1gb graphics - $3299 (aus dollars)
I'm fairly certain that they come with the external cd drive. No clue if the battery slice is included (really hope it is).
We have as well two listings for the envy 13 if anybody wants (didn't write down the details)

Re: HP Envy 15? i7 meets 4830+15" screen!
Welcome to NBR and thanks for the info!
Seems like the only difference between the two models is double the RAM and the i7 820qm for an extra $500 AUS dollars.
Do the listings also include a color or what laser etching option they have? We have seen a silver, a glossy black (envy 15 beats edition) and now with the link that jwhit3367 provided a possible matte black option. We have also only seen that flowery design for laser etching.Otaku no Kamisama

Re: HP Envy 15? i7 meets 4830+15" screen!
I can get the prices of the Envy 13 when I am next at work (Sunday). From memory the envy 13 is more expensive than the envy 15.
The listings say nothing about colour or any etching patterns.
The extra $500 isn't that bad a price difference, considering the price of ddr3 ram. Personally, i'd be more than happy with the lower model and i'm a gamer!

Re: HP Envy 15? i7 meets 4830+15" screen!
I think there was some confusion at the launch event. The Australian supplier listing that I'm looking at states DVD, but I believe it refers to the external DVD unit included in the retail package rather than a built-in DVD burner. The models that I've seen are identical to the ones launched earlier in the US.
There is no black matte edition here, neither is the Limited Edition announced for the Australian market. There are 4 SKUs announced, 2 for the 13 and 2 for the 15. The 13 is indeed more expensive than the 15 and this is mainly due to the Envy 13 configurations having those 410 nit screens. The Australian retail configurations are all spec'ed to the max. All Envy's come with HP's 1 year consumer pick up and return warranty and will be supported by HP's consumer support services.
The prices on these are expected to be controlled more tightly as HP expects the premium to hold for a while (I can't even get a discount). No new shipments of the HDX has been committed, so we can expect that the Envy will replace that in the Australian market. The ETA that I'm looking at for the Envy is 24th October, so retailers like Harvey Norman and Diick Smiths should get them in the next 2 weeks.NotebookReview Contributor

Re: HP Envy 15? i7 meets 4830+15" screen!
Is it me or does the matte black picture look just like the other ones? Or is it because of my monitor that it comes out as just a poorly lighted standard color envy 15? I guess I'm just not very convinced that hp would actually launch a matte black version because it would likely cut into sales of their 'beats' special edition.
