The diagnotics test failed in the Short DST
Recently, I tried to clone my 1.8" hard disk to a new SSD hard disk for my 2530p, but the window vista was hanged during the cloning process.
Then, I run the HP diagnostic test in the BIOS but failed in the SHORT DST(Drive Self Test).
I would like to know if system recovery could solve the problem(I wonder if the the defected sector in the disk/partition is the recovery partition(D: HP_RECOVERY) or the window parition(C:\).
Thanks.

Re: The diagnotics test failed in the Short DST
the failed test means your HDD has some bad sectors and could be about to die, back up your data and give HP a call. It needs to be replaced and doing recovery won't do anything.
