Hmm. In the first link at the start of this post my school was listed, but at the link on this page...it isnt...

EDIT: Didn't recognize the city, but noticed the zip code.

Wowo. The APP makes a nice difference

    Genuine Windows XP Professional
    AMD Turion(TM) 64 ML-37 (2.0GHz/1MB L2 Cache)
    14.0 WXGA BrightView Widescreen (1280x768)
    ATI RADEON(R) XPRESS 200M w/productivity ports
    256MB DDR SDRAM (1x256MB)
40 GB 4200 RPM Hard Drive
Primary CD/DVD Drive FREE Upgrade from DVD to DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive!!
    54g(TM) Integ. Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN & Bluetooth
    12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
    Microsoft(R) Works/Money

    Special Printer Offer HP All-in-One

    For $735.56

The only reason im going for the free printer is because with that mailin rebate it actually came out to -8.01 dollars. So My total discounts on this lappy were the 100.00 mail in, 150.00 instant, the APP discount, and the 8.01 from the printer rebate.

Just FYI, the printer that comes for free is pretty bad, alot of people on this site have said that its ink usage is bad compared to the model ahead of it.

I registered at the APP website.
Do they give discounts on nx9430 notebooks ? I could only see the green apple on home computers.

Does anyone have a spare 10% off coupon from surveys? I'd be willing to pay for it.

FYI, I asked the second salesperson at HP to whom I spoke why the first salesperson hadn't mentioned an academic discount to me even though I told him I teach in a university and would be using the notebook in the classroom. He hemmed and hawed - never could give me a credible answer. So it's thanks to you guys that I found it and saved the $$.
Coupon from where. I just ordered a dv6000. Do I save on this purchase.

I wonder if they will refund me the difference?
I called in yesterday about my order and the APP that I just heard about from this thread and they said once my order ships they would credit me the difference.

    AMD Turion ML-40
    128mb ATI Radeon Xpress 200m
    1x1024mb memory
    80GB 5400 RPM HD
    Bluetooth card
and 2 12-cell batteries would cost? (configured w/out discount as of 2/20/2006 as $1,126.99 [after $150 instant savings and $50 mail-in rebate])

Also, it says on the discount site that the educational discount only works for post-k12 educational institutions. Yet, when I went through the registration process, it showed my k12 high school as an option. It goes on to say something to the effect of "if hp finds your registration to be fraudulent, you have authorized us to charge you the difference in purchase price." Now, wouldn't you agree that I should just go for it, if that's all they are going to do? It says nothing about a surcharge or "we'll see you in court" type of thing, so I have nothing to lose, right? If I get away with the discount then that's great, and if they review my purchase and find out I'm just a highschooler, I am no worse off than if I hadn't even used the discount period. Right?

BTW, great site/forums, lots of info here. Sorry for such a lengthy post...
    price $1,093.99 *
    instant savings − $100.00
    mail-in rebate − $50.00

    price after rebate $943.99
    you saved 13.7%
