    Default HDX16t 1366x768 vs. 1920x1200 res...

So I'm in the market for an HDX16t and I'm having issues deciding between different models. The difference in the screen resolution would cost me around $100. I would never really use the 1920x1200 for gaming, but it would come in handy while doing homework with multiple windows.

I currently have a DV9500 and a DV5. The DV9500's 1440x900 is excellent for me and I would see no reason to go above that resolution. However, the DV5's 1280x800 is just too small for me (almost even for internet browsing). It just doesn't seem like the 1366x768 would be much different. So for those who have the lower res HDX16t model, would you upgrade to the larger resolution if you had the chance or are you happy with your current setup?

Depends. If you are buying the system with the blu-ray, then you'll have to get 1920x1200 (or 1920x1080) or having that blu-ray drive would be a waste. I'd personally just go for the upgrade to 1920x1200/1080 regardless. Screens now a days can downscale without looking distorted.

If 16:10 WXGA is too small for you, the 1366x768 resolution will be even worse. Definitely go for the 1920x1200 option.

Thanks man... I didn't even realize the DV5 was 16:10. Makes the choice a little easier now

Yes I too was worried about 1920x1200 would be too midget to even read of off but I was reassured that if it was indeed too small for me, then I could decrease the resolution manually. I'll see when mine comes in.

Well my HDX16t just came in the mail today.... and this thing does NOT disappoint. I went ahead and got the 1080p screen and would never look back. I'm sure the font would be too small for some, but with the multiple screens I use for school it works out perfectly. Thanks to all!

Well I got mine 2 days ago and found out you can change the resolution by right clicking on the desktop. It makes everything bigger. However, I prefer the higher resolution now.

I definately agree... I wouldn't have been able to deal with the 1366x768. I tried it out and didn't see any difference between it and my DV5 screen. Thankfully I made the right decision and coughed up the extra cash

You should try to avoid decreasing the resolution manually. It does distort the image unless you cut the resolution exactly in half. If the font is too small just change your dpi.
