Thank you for this very detailed explanation!

But, will it work with the dv4t???

I hope the HP BIOS development team puts more effort on their BIOS updates!!!

Yeah, i think it will work on almost all HP notebooks, old and new. For example, in the article mentioned in my explanation, the author patched the fan speeds on the HP Compaq nc8430 laptop, and in comments, another user with the HP Compaq 6730s have also successfully patched his laptop. And maybe it will even work on non-HP notebooks, because all laptops have the DSDT tables in their Windows registry.

Hi Thanks for the tutorial. (the fan on my dv5z with the athlon x2 ql-60 cpu was driving me insane).

I made the changes to the ASL file as you suggested, but when It's time to load the file, I get an error saying that the registry path does not exist. Do you know what might be wrong? Thanks!

So, have you liked the new DSDT settings? What fan speed values have you used, like in my example or some other?

i used your settings, and i still get the same noise all the time. i suspect it's because my laptop uses the Athlon x2 64 ql-60 chip, which is a desktop chip , and does not have any power mgmt features. when doing firefox work, the amd overdrive utilty reports 54-57 deg. C. I'm going to give it one more try with the fan at 10%

this last config here gives some noise, I guess i'll have to get used to the noise.

i broke down and ordered a fanless inspiron mini 12 . i can use my dv5z only when necessary. I should have just gotten a macbook from the beginning .
