Problem....helpp...everyone
So my laptop died at a very inconvenient time. I left it on overnight cuz i was downloading some torrents. When I woke up, I checked my email and browsed for about 15 mins. Before leaving for class, I put it to sleep Fn + F5, put it in my bag and left for class. When I tried to turn it on in the class, it didnt turn on. Only the lights went on but there was no display on the screen and it kept restarting. I took it to the university computer shop to get it checked later and they tried removing HDD, ram, wireless card and battery but it still didnt work. So, they concluded it is dead and I should get rid of it. It couldnt die at a worse time cuz I am short on money and school term is going on I cant survive without my lappy.
It was a dv60000 and the warranty ended in August so I am pretty much screwed. I had it in my mind that I would buy a decent 13" laptop for up to $2000 in Feb next year because I am starting my job in January.
I dont have the money to buy a $700 laptop right now. I was thinking of selling this one for parts and then get like a temp laptop like the acer 8.9" laptop for $300 + taxes. I cant think of any other solution. I need a laptop fast though, like today or tomorrow.
What do you guys suggest? What can I do with this dead laptop? How much can I sell it for and where?
Which laptop should I get as a temp laptop? Are there any ways like delayed payments or installment financing? If so, then I can buy a pretty decent laptop now and pay in February.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Problem....helpp...everyone
Usually my guess would be the ram module got loose somehow, but your computer shop checked that already. It might be fried motherboard of dead screen.

Re: Problem....helpp...everyone
Thanks for the help. I went to the link and my laptop is a part of this extended warranty. I called HP support and they are going to send me a box to pack the laptop and send it to them.
For the time being, I'll go pick up some laptop from futureshop and return it when my own comes back after repair.

Re: Problem....helpp...everyone
You are likely to be well past the return period by the time HP returns your laptop (mine took over a month), plus that's not exactly ethical. Better to buy a nice new notebook that you'll want to keep (preferably with ATI graphics) and sell your old notebook when you get it back.
My repaired dv2000z's NVIDIA chipset is running surprisingly cool though. I think they've got the problem solved now.

Re: Problem....helpp...everyone
Yeah I am thinking either to keep the Acer Aspire One that I picked up today from future shop for 420 in taxes and give the HP to my brother when i comes back after repair or buy sell the HP and buy something else preferably 13" or lesser.
TX2500 is a good option i dont know wat else i can get that is small and has some graphics power.
