Anyone have any luck with the DV8t, I can get it to scan the USB key, however it will not load the bios off of it.
Thanks

WIN+B with the USB key in either port on the left-hand side.
It will scan the USB key and then flash the drive led amber and then nothing.
Ive tried it with the 7001f15 BIOS file renamed as 7001.bin, 7001.rom and bios.rom. And with the USB key formatted as FAT-16 and FAT-32, still no joy.

With the new Insyde BIOS the name of the firmware you want to emergency flash it important.
The emergency bootblock will flash only if the filename is correct.
You can get a clue of what is the file name by the default firmware name the of the OEM EFI.
XXXx64.fdSelling OS X to Linux Users is like selling inferior ice to Eskimos.

By the way you have to hold WIN+B for 15-20 sec. on the DV8t.

That would not work for me...
My problem is that after the bios update, I get a message saying that the ecu fan is faulty even thow I can hear it working, and the lap shuts down.
About a month ago I got it to start scaning from the usb drive(without seeing the fan error screen) using a 3 key combo. I had to press the power until the hdd led comes on and then let go of the all the keys. My problem is that I forgot the combo. The Win+B does not work for me (DV8T-1000)

re: C700 / CQ40 / CQ45 / DV4 / DV5 / DV6 / HDX18T - Insyde BIOS RECOVERY using a USB THUMBDRIVE
Okay guys if anyone can shed any light on whats going on id be greatly appreciative.
I have a Dv5 1046tx which HP health check advised me to upgrade the bios on to get rid of a volume control issue.
Of course i downloaded the insyde tool and proceeded to install version f.21, which appeared to go okay until it got to the end of the install at which time the laptop just kept getting the error message that it wasnt responding.
After this it did however restart of its own accord, and from then on it does power up on the second push of the power button, but shuts off for a few seconds then turns on continuously all with no screen or audible beeping. The scroll and caps lock buttons flash continuously during this time and when it is running continuously.
The inside flash version of f.21 was sp45138, on opening this with Winrar i have 2 files titled (3602f21.fd) and (3603f21.fd) respectively which i have tried unsuccessfully to get my lappy to read from my imation 2gb usb drive.
Have tried Fat 16 with many variations of these files (relabelling 3603f21.fd as 3603.bin or 3602.bin or 3603 as 3602 with no success. Ive tried holding win+b on boot as i plug in the usb drive, power and start button and ive tried fn+esc, but neither of these appear to access the usb stick. Is there generally no sound or beeps on startup until the usb stick is accessed? It does appear that the mute button is on so i am unclear of whether this is the cause.
Any advice or instruction would be welcomed as i go through this process with fat 32. The replacement for this motherboard comes from india and i was quoted today that the cost is $823.97+10% tax for a new board, or for a refurbished board it is about $700.
Hp do not give out or admit to having a recovery proceedure, so if anyone has any tricks , youd make me a very happy fella.
Cheers Ron

re: C700 / CQ40 / CQ45 / DV4 / DV5 / DV6 / HDX18T - Insyde BIOS RECOVERY using a USB THUMBDRIVE
I want tell my happy end story!
My notebook: HP Pavilion dv3 2110er.
I will try remove PCIEX white list for using new wireless card, edit bios by ezh20 and reflash with modified version. After that notebook not start and caps lock ( with num lock) blink 4 times.
On my other laptop i found this topic, read wery carefully all post, try everything. Nothing not help.
When i put file 306D.BIN ( 306D my motherboard id ) on USB flash drive, remove any power source then press WIN-B and plug AC and turn on laptop - only power button glow white. Led on USB flash drive not blink and fan not working. Nothing. I will try other names, other flash drives, nothing helped.
I decided to remove wifi card and when open case i saw small battery which save CMOS settings. I remove this battery and retry rescue bios.
- Unplug all power source
- insert usb flash drive with bios file name 306D.BIN (flash drive will formated in FAT16 by standart windows utilities )
- plug in AC power
- press WIN-B
- press power button
AND RESCUE START!
laptop beep one time, after 20 second they start beep every 2 second and after 1 min he turned off.
Then i press power button and ALL WORK FINE!
So if you can rescue bios by WIN-B try remove CMOS battery and try without it - It helped me!
p.s> Sorry for my bad English
And big thanks for this topic !!!
