    Default Compaq Presario F500 problem

I have problem with Compaq Presario F500, when I press the power
button, leds light up for a second and switch off.
Sometimes when I press fast and few times power buton, cpu fan works
for a while, and the leds light up about 15 sec.and switch off again.
When computer was in function, and when it gone into
the sleep mode (power save mode) it has to "brutally" switched off -
because computer didn't respond any command from keyboard (ctrl+alt+del) .

I found that problems usually happens on this model (Compaq Presario
F500)- heating problems caused that...and because of that HP suggest
to upgrade the BIOS (for better fan control).

I try to power on only with CPU and RAM, disconnected batery,LCD,HDD,DVD,all cards...but nothing change, only leds blinks for a second. On the motherboard I have 3.3V and 5 V...CMOS battery ok...

P.S. I dont try to change processor (AMD) because I dont have another one.

    Any help or suggestion, please?

    (sorry for my english)

    Best regards!

There is a repair recall on these systems related to the Nvidia graphics/chipset design problems. Check if your laptop is covered under this recall...

Hate to be a troll, but anybody find a solution to this? I tried the limited warranty enhancement once. It fixed the wireless, but not the sleep problem. Now HP is telling me that it doesn't apply to the sleep problem... I've heard that this only affects AMD processors on these laptops. And yes, the laptop DOES run hot... It's burning up on my lap right now and it's almost 100 degrees outside. *growls at HP's stupid laptop*

i called into Compaq because my f500 screen went blank. i was told it needed to be repaired and would cost $400.00. However, if I purchased a new computer, the manager would authorize a free repair!

After doing some research, I found out that there was a recall and HP had to fix for free. the support tech called my house on for separate occasions trying to get me to buy a new laptop to receive his free repair.

    Awful customer service

    Sasha

did you get it figured out? My fan on my Presario F500 never comes on. I was wondering if some kind of thermostat control, bad fan, or bios issue.

any help from your experience is helpful

    thanks

    pete
