AMD-Vista-Battery meter 'time' question

I'm just posting this question up for a few friends. They have HP's with AMD processors and when they put their mouse over the battery meter on the taskbar, they only get a % left, no estimated time left. Is this something specific with amd? i've worked mostly with intel computers (including apple) and they always show % and time.

Did they disable the search function on this forum...? I apologize if this has been discussed before. Didn't find any mention after 4 pages of reading

None of the current breed of HP noteboks have that feature. For some reason HP thinks its better to have a percent display rather than time remaining. This is true of any HP model Intel or AMD. There are applications(liek RM clock) which estimate the time remaining but are not very accurate. I got used to seeing the percent remaining and after a while it didnt bother me not having the time remaining display.

P.S - Yeah, search feature has been temporarily been disabled while the admins look for permanent fix for the performance issues we have been having for the past few months.

Thanks for the info! that's quite interesting why they would disable that feature...i thought it was just built into the OS - guess not!

Good luck with the server issues. These boards are going to get more packed as people get into the comp world (since comps are so darn cheap now, and its kind of getting to be necessary to be wired).

I use this http://www.julien-manici.com/gadgets/ gadget... (The battery monitor one) I think it guestimates the battery remaining based on the amount of drain you're giving it. So when I swap the hi cap battery with the low cap battery the numbers get all funny. But close it and drop a new gadget on the desktop and it will give a semi-accurate number again.
