HP Pavilion screen problem ...
Hi
A friend gave me to try to repair an issue she has with the screen of an HP Pavilion dv5218nr.
You can only view a small portion of the screen and the rest is blacked out.
Need to know if the screen has gone bad or is it a problem with the laptop.
I posted some images on flickr so you guys can see what am seeing.

Re: HP Pavilion screen problem ...
Either its the LCD connection, the LCD, or the video card.
Hook it up to an external monitor. If the view is fine, then its the LCD. If the view is still bad, its the GPU and the laptop is toast.Desktop 13.3" Macbook Air W7 Ultimate, Core i7 2600k, Crucial M4 128GB SSD

Re: HP Pavilion screen problem ...
Thanks Greg
I hooked it up to an external monitor and the view is fine. So does that mean I have to change the LCD or is there some sort of quick fix internally for this problem.

Re: HP Pavilion screen problem ...
did you ever get this issue resolved? I have the DV6000 series and am starting to experience this issue as well... I have take the casing off and all the wiring looks fine (no cracking or split wires) and the screen will be ok for a while the suddenly go fuzzy white on the bottom 2/3s of the screen.

The LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) is the monitor on the laptop. If the LCD is the problem, you'll just have to replace the LCD on the laptop. I can't remember the name of the thread, but if you search around this section of the forum for a bit you'll find the thread.
