It seems when using bios F.2B have problem with fan controller. I always get noisy sound from fan.

Downgrading again to bios F.2A & problems gone. Looks like the stable bios version for windows XP is F.2A.

Great! Looks like you guys sorted this all out for me

I will personally confirm sainusahib's guide with my dv2700t later, and I will be sure to thoroughly test the system and post all details.

    * Update: I've found one error so far with sainusahib's guide; a link to the UAA driver was not given.

Earlier in this thread, esternik pointed out that the UAA driver can be found here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...177437&lang=en

I would appreciate some confirmation that this is the correct UAA driver to use.

    Two new errors with sainusahib's guide I found in my numerous testings in the past couple days;

The F.13 BIOS is NOT required to get past the ACPI error when installing XP. You do not need to flash back to F.13 and then flash forward to F.2A. You can install XP fully with just the F.2A BIOS.

One flash is much better than two, now isn't it?

Also, the real Ethernet drivers are here:

Another thing I found out; I don't know if anyone in this thread tested the headphone-out jacks at all after installing any of the aforementioned audio drivers.

I am not sure if this driver fixes the microphone because I don't have one to test it, but if you wish to use the headphone out jack(s), these are the only drivers that seem to work:

Well, everything is as stable as can be even after running numerous benchmarks including 3Dmark, Prime95, SuperPI. It doesn't appear to me like there are any inherent problems with running this machine with XP, and/or any of the various drivers from different laptops.

One final note, if you want the latest video drivers, Nvidia doesn't appear to be supporting the 8400m anymore driver-wise, so you will have to download the latest drivers via http://laptopvideo2go.com/.

PLEASE read the installation instructions when installing these drivers; i.e. if you don't know already, there is one extra step you must do before simply launching Setup. Please read here if you are unfamiliar with what I am referring to: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/...showtopic=9243

If anyone has any trouble installing XP on their dv2700t, or has any issues driver-wise, feel free to post in this thread and ask me. I am a native English speaker, and I have probably experienced every little quirk you could have in doing this process. I am happy to assist.

hey furvy - i concur. i've been now running XP with (almost) no quirks for 5 months.

the one thing that i've yet to succeed in is to get SDHC flash cards to be recognized correctly by the internal reader. i've downloaded the drivers that are supposed to make this happen, but what i'm experiencing is that the card gets assigned a drive letter only if i put it in straight after booting. later - not exactly sure how much, or what changed - it will not show up.

This thread so useful before proceeding with Windows XP installation.
I bought DV2700t 2 weeks back and my windows vista is not working.its says some system files are missing always. HP backup partition also corrupted. Currently i'm running with ubuntu and works perfect.
I want to try XP, but its says no harddisk found in your laptop while installation.

    My Bios Version is F.2C

Is anyone tried XP without downgrading to F.13 from F.2C and worked ?.

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
mr. programmer sir, you need to slipstream SATA drivers with Windows XP CD for the hard drives to be "visible" to the setup.
