Re: DV2700t will not run properly run XP
I downgraded my new dv2700 using the original instructions. Prior to download BIOS was downgraded from F.25 to F.13 - I am not sure that this was necessary. SWSETUP directory from dv2700 was copied to external drive. I am also using Acromis True Image Software to backup the whole drive in between some steps:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/arch.../t-214395.html - this is related to dv2700
Acromis True Image Software
1) Install XPsp2 (with SATA drivers)
2) Install Chipset drivers (SP32555) and restart
2a) Install Intel Matrix Strorage Manager and restart
3) Install Graphics drivers (SP34044) and restart. Check device manager to verify graphics installed
4) Install Ethernet drivers (http://www.marvell.com/drivers/drive...?dId=175&pId=3)
5) Install UAA
sp32646 (1.00A6) - 2006-06-14 Can be found at:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...177437&lang=en
Install. Windows will shut down
---- BAckup UAA with 1.00A6
6) Install Conexant - SP34386. Ignore Errors.
There will be two new folders in
c:\SwSetup: sp34386 (This is for audio) and sp33839 (this is for modem)
Conexant installer will give error that device not found. Ignore and proceed with the next steps.
7) Install Alps touchpad driver
.://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericSoftwareDownloadIndex?lc=en&cc=us&softwareitem=ob-16536-1
(downloaded sp25796)
Do not reboot
Install the Quicklaunch driver
8) Install Intel Wireless
(Network is not conncted + button should be off all the time to avoid wizards)
Install also WWAN sp36889 (from original SWSETUP/Drivers/WWAN )
9) Install bluetooth.
Bluetooth Places appears on the desktop.
HP Integrated Module with Bluetooth 2.0 Wireless Technology appears under Bluetooth Devices node
10) Install hp wireless assistant. Reboot.
11)Update HP Integrated Module with Bluetooth 2.0 Wireless Technology
Right click, Update Driver
Say "no, not at this time" for connecting to Windows Update
Install from a list or specific location
Don't search I will choose the driver to install
C:\SwSetup\SP34842A\Win32\Drivers
12) Check device manager, and install the webcam drivers (even though a webcam is already detected and installed.) I did it and there are no differences. There is no such thing in device manager as HPWebCam. There is only USB Video Device under Imaging Devices. (Since original instructions miss screanshots, not sure if this step is correctly performed)
13)Do not reboot.
Reinstall UAA drivers (SP32646) .
UAA does not appear in the device manager
Find PCI Device in the device manager and perform Upgrade Driver as:
No, not this time -> install the software automatically.
Wizards will pop up "New Hardware Found". Cancel out of them.
Upgrade Audio and Modem manually as:
Device Manager>Audio device on HD
Right click, Update Driver
Say "no, not at this time" for connecting to Windows Update
Install from a list or specific location
Don't search I will choose the driver to install
In the list of common hardware types, scroll down and select Sound, Video, and Game controllers(Some simply choose "show all")
Remove the check from "Show Compatible Hardware" and click on "Have Disk"
Next...browse to C:\Swsetup\sp34386
Choose the "inf" and ignore any protest from XP
Repeat with Modem,directing to C:\swsetup\sp33839
Reboot.
Install Ricon driver.
Reboot.
At this point I got XP with functional Sound, Camera, Quick buttons, Camera and Ethernet and Wireless. I did not check if Bluetooth functions properly.
THE ONLY THING THAT DOES NOT WORK is MICROPHONE. Neither internal (build-in) nor external.
It's very important for me since I am heavy Skype user (btw, WebCam works perfectly, although it's still listed as USB Video Device)
I would appreciate any advice for the non-working microphone. If it does not work I will be forced to return the notebook!
Please help!

Re: DV2700t will not run properly run XP
whoa man congratulations on successfully installing Windows XP on your dv2700!!!!! i think the BIOS downgrade was definitely necessary... otherwise you would have ACPI problems. well, im waiting for atleast 2 more people to try this for the results and conclusion to be final.....
as for your microphone issue, we all are having trouble with it.

Re: DV2700t will not run properly run XP
Microphone should be controlled by the audio drivers, find the right one and it should work again.

Re: DV2700t will not run properly run XP
I am using Conexon driver
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...os=228&lang=en
This is a sound driver recommended for XP dv2500T users (this is XP driver for AMD!)
It works for dv2700t - suond is perfect, but microphones do not work!
I am willing to try other audio drivers, but there are so many of them!
Any pointers to relevant drivers are appreciated!
