Default Dv6000t with 22 Inch monitor

    hi. i currently own a dv6000t with 2.0 GHz and a 2GB ram.

my graphics card is a Nvdia Geforce go 7400.

I am running an external HP 22 inch monitor called the w2207.

For some reason the w2207 keeps on flickering. Is it because i dont have enough power going to it or what?

I am using the standard VGA to VGA cable that came with monitor.

why is it that the external monitor keeps flickering?

I had a similar problem with my dv6000t but with a Dell monitor. Buying a better VGA cable did the trick for me, I'd try that first (especially if you happen to have another cable laying around the house).
Trust me, NEVER flash your bios in windows

hummm... thats not working.... i dont know why it flickers.

i notice that if i pull the power chord off the dv6000t laptop, the monitor will stop flickering... i think its a power problem... but how can i have the laptop connected with the monitor without haveing flickers?

I DON'T know if this is an issue...

But I just purchased the HP quickdock. I get white flickering on the quickdock if the external monitor is hooked into the quickdock and the power adapter is hooked up as well. When the power adapter is not attached (running off the battery) the external monitor is very smooth.

After calling hp, they said that my notebook shipped with a 65w power adapter and that I need a 90w power adapter (hp sells both for the 6000t/6500t). I'm waiting for the new power adapter to see if that solves the issue.

Try running the external monitor without the power adapter attached, see if things fix themselves. Sorry if I did not help... offering what I know... be nice if it were something so simple.

wow. so far, no good. i still see flickering. but it will stop as soon as i unplug my dv6000t.

humm... its not refresh rate either!

maybe its my VGA cable. i am using the stock one that came with the monitor. ill try to connect to a MAC using a DVI and see if that makes any difference.

Okay, i have a big question: i have a dv6500t comming in that my brother ordered for me. it has an HDMI port. is HDMI better than VGA? or is DVI better than HDMI? hows the rankings?

    S video < VGA < DVI < HDMI ??

is that the ranking? i dont understand why is my monitor flickering....

if i get a HDMI convert to DVI, do you think that'll solve the problem?

I'm trying to use the quickdock with a DV6226US and seeing similiar flickering when the power is plugged into either the laptop or the quickdock.

Did the different power supply work?

i have a dv6000 hp and i notice the same flickering when i have an external monitor plugged in.i thought it had something to do with the graphics, but that not the case.so i fired up the laptop and hookt up the external monitor with the power supply off and it looks fine.i plugged the power cable in the laptop and the flikering started.

so i guess for me its the power supply.i guess ill have to call hp.

Had the same issue, plugged my external LCD monitor into my ups but used one of those 3 to 2 prong adaptors thereby removing the ground feature. It works but now I guess my montior is not grounded.....I probably have wiring issues in my home...

I usually get flickering on both the external and the internal monitors when I plug in an external, but only for the first 5 seconds or so. After that, it's fine.

What resolution are you trying to run the w2207 at? I would try exploring the nVidia control panel (whatever it's called) while the external is plugged in while on battery. Perhaps there's some power management settings that are causing the external to flicker when plugged in. Try playing with the nVidia settings (especially the power and refresh rate settings). Make sure you do not set the external's resolution higher than its native resolution.

okay.before i would have my laptop screen as the main screen and would use the external as the one i would drag stuff onto, like video.

i have now made the exteranl my main screen and the laptop screen my 2nd.its seems to have workt.ive tried games on the main external and they look better.although the flikering i was talkn bout wasnt major,i just thought it shouldnt be like that.im gonna try to switch it back the way id like it.have the laptop monitor as my main and this external as the 2nd.

the wire thing could be the prob aswell.i em now using the monitor cable that was at my desktop and i think that helpt abit.as i said before it wasnt a huge problem, but something that just annoyed me and thought it shouldnt be that way.

before all this messn around i did call hp. the guy said its not the power supply .he then goes on and says this is normal and that they all do that lol.

hes says that when i wonna use the external monitor that i should just unplug the laptop andn run off the battery (that seems to work and the flickering isnt as bad if any) if i dont want the flickering.

then he tells me to update the bios,so i do at the official hp site.after that it still seemd to be the same until i tried it the other way around wot i have said above.im now gonna switch it back the old way of having laptop screen as main and see how it is.

and its hard to understand them indians sometime.im like "say what" lol

EDIT: i just now switcht it back the way i wanted it. laptop screen as main and external as second, for some reason the external native res stayed the same(the way ive wanted it to be,but never could get it)

i did try watchn a dvd and hd 720p movies and the flikering seems to be on the videos, but isnt noticible unless you look for it. i think my problems is sloved.

you might wonna mess around with ur res settings and make sure the refresh rate is set properly.
