    Interesting...Well I know you're on XP

    Destiny are you on Vista?

People have said Vista systems run the fan up more often, so maybe it's an OS problem regarding not slowing down after gaming?

Ohh yeah I remember now...Hmm, I wonder why some system fans slow down and others don't then?

Saga update, Day 22 - A Ray of Hope?

No call received by the promised 12:00 PM. I called and was connetcted to the case manager. She had dutifully tracked down a graphics card, which she thought, was the hang-up in my HP challenge.

---Now here is the amazing part. She listened to me as I explained that no, a graphics card had previously been found and installed without success. I then gave her the "Cliff Notes" version of events and she said that she thought I should get a new computer but she lacked the authority and had to have the matter reviewed by a "technician" who probably would approve this as "they are usually on the customers side.” This nice case manager then, with my prompting, promised that I would hear back either from her or the technician by 3:00 P.M., Tuesday December 18, 2007. She then gave me direct line and extension.

Hmm, dare I hope?? Or am I in for another Charlie Brown moment?

If I was Charlie Brown, I would've kicked Lucy.

The fan is pretty much always on. There have only been a few rare times when it wasn't.

For any of you that may have missed it in my thread, I just received my replacement 8510p, and it also has a Samsung screen, but this one's even grainier than the first, so back they both go, and I'll be moving on to another notebook entirely.

Dumb question, but is this the right updated BIOS to install: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...tem=ob-56430-1

I'm guessing it is since I haven't heard of remote rom flash and I know I don't have freeDOS. Well that and the big for MS Windows/Vista.

Saga update, Day 23 - A Ray of Hope? Nope, more clouds.

The promised call did not arrive, I called and left a message and did not hear back from my friend at "Mission Controll".

I gave an update to the gal who answered the phone (it was one whom I had talked with before) she told me current contact was gone for the day but my case had been passed on to the next level and she then gave me the name of the current HP support person to have my case. Perhaps he will call. Any bets?

I hope you thought to obtain the new contact info, or at least they were on the ball enough to give it to you, and if so , you should contact them immediately.
