Thread: HP 8510p available!

Re: HP 8510p available!
Well, I doubt the HD 2600 will beat the Quadro 570m. Those guessing it will be between the 8600 GS and GT are probably right, but who knows. I'm actually more curious as to whether HP is putting DDR2 or DDR3 in their business laptop Radeons. If it's DDR3 we might see some real competition (maybe!)...
(http://ati.amd.com/products/mobility...600/specs.html "128-bit 4-channel DDR2/GDDR3 memory interface")
Anyway, originally I was torn between the 8510p and the t61p, but...estimated shipping if I bought the Lenovo would be mid September at the earliest. According to HP, my 8510p would ship next Tuesday. So yeah, GG to my Thinkpad dreams.
Also! I dunno about everyone else, but the t61p I configure comes out to 1650ish before tax/shipping. The RM269UT 8510p I'm looking at comes out to 1479. Maybe I'm missing a few coupons, I dunno :PDell XPS 16 [Core i7 620m 1.6 GHz/4GB RAM/500GB HDD/16" WLED/Radeon 5730/Win7 64]

Re: HP 8510p available!
any ideas when (if ever) we can customize either the 8510p or 8510w, rather than purchasing the pre-configured models?

Re: HP 8510p available!
If HP's use of GDDR3 in the 6910p is anything to go by, I'd assume they would continue to use GDDR3 for the 8x10p/w

Re: HP 8510p available!
The rep I talked to said mid-August to customize a 8510p. So maybe next week. I'm really looking forward to it so I can get a WXGA. It makes no sense to me why they didn't have a WXGA preconfig.

Re: HP 8510p available!
Its available in NZ with the WXGA (there are just two models available in NZ at the moment!) so it should be an option elsewhere.

Re: HP 8510p available!
this is a really attractive notebook...considering that I need a notebook by the end of August and the complains about t61 ship dates...hopefully hp will soon allow customization on the 8510p and there be more info on the hd2600 card. So far all the focus seems to be on the nvidia cards.

Re: HP 8510p available!
Figures that the computer I had originally waited months for would come out a week after I got my Asus. Oh well. I'm sure it'll be a nice machine, and it's not like I really settled.

Re: HP 8510p available!
Where are you located, Wilsonywx?
I ask this because I understand folks OUTSIDE the U.S. have A LOT of issues about getting what they want, but if you're INSIDE the U.S., I was just at my local Sam's Club today (which not only moved WHERE their laptops were, but also changed the SELECTION), and the one on the far right was a Lenovo Thinkpad t61... Is THAT the computer of which you speak? If so, you generally you can't beat a Sam's Club price, and they generally have pretty decent stock and you should be able to just walk in and get one.
Even if you're NOT a member, it would be worth buying a membership just for that one purchase... Or if you live in an area with a Sam's Club, my bet is that you'll know someone who IS a member if you're not... I also believe you can search their website without being a member, so you might want to check it out.
Good luck,
Jeff

Re: HP 8510p available!
Hello all,
I'm seriously considering to order a 8510p. Does anyone here know if it's possible to use *two* external displays on this laptop, with/without a docking station? Currently I have two 1280x1024 VGA monitors. Would it be possible to somehow connect one of them to the HDMI port, and the other to the VGA port?
I guess one possibility would be to use something like the "Matrox dualhead2go", but as far as I can understand by studying the HD 2600 specs, the VGA output only supports 2048x1536 resolution.
