How much will the 8510p be (as compared to this 8430)
Im not sure how much the nc8430 was when it was released, but right now, I plan to get a 8510p when it is released with comparable specs to this 8430...
http://www.euclidcomputers.com/frame...+RM150UT%23ABA
WSXA+
2.0 ghz C2D
256MB Video Card
1GB Ram
120GB HD
etc
.
.
.
How much would you think a 8510p would sell for when it came out with those specs? ~1600 like the one from Euclid?

How would we know that?
Perhaps, you will find out in two weeks, wondering in the meantime...

Re: How much will the 8510p be (as compared to this 8430)
HP says the 8510p will be around $1,500 for the basic ensemble package. If you want to customize it (c'mon..you know you do) it can get up and above $2000. But then again, do you REALLY need that Blu-Ray rewritable drive?
Personally I plan on my 8510p looking like this:
Windows XP SP2
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T7500 2.20 GHz 4 MB L2 cache 800 MHz 4MB L2
SODIMM 2GB stick
160 GB 5400 rpm SATA
LightScribe DVD+/-RW SuperMulti with Double Layer
15.4-inch diagonal WSXGA+ wide-viewing angle
ATI Mobility Radeon X2600(XT if it is an option) graphics with 256 MB dedicated video memory (512 MB HyperMemory)
Wireless b/g/n
Integrated Bluetooth 2.0
HP Fingerprint Sensor
8-cell (73 Wh) Lithium-Ion
I am going to "dock" it with my 32" LCD via HDMI,bluetooth keyboard and mouse because it puts my current desktop to shame in almost every way. I am interested in the HD technology but it just isn't worth investing in for the next couple of years, although the HDMI port is a main reason for me buying the 8510p. That technology WILL become more prevalent and with these specs the laptop should be good for at least 3-4 years. The only component that might be outdated is the HDD/optical drive (which can be replaced) and the graphics card. But my gaming needs aren't great and I'm still making do with my Radeon 9800 XT 256MB so I'm expecting the HD 2600 to be at least on par, or better than that.
A customer service rep really likes me at HP and she calls every now and again to let me know any change in launch date/price/etc....
I love the way it looks, but I HATE the Compaq name and their reputation for ****ty, budget desktops. I'm hoping their business notebooks are better.
I also wish for a better graphics card option, but hey...theres always something, eh?
EDIT: Anyone know if the laptop's HDMI port will be HDCP compliant?Last edited by Deltaupsilon; 11th June 2007 at 11:51 AM.

The HP Compaq line of business notebooks are extremely well built, and rumors have it almost as well built as the legendary Thinkpads. Owning one myself, I believe that.
I kind of hope we can get a-hold of those BluRay drives as parts...I'd love to upgrade my nc8430 a little bit.Desktop 13.3" Macbook Air W7 Ultimate, Core i7 2600k, Crucial M4 128GB SSD

Re: How much will the 8510p be (as compared to this 8430)
Another satisfied HP Compaq user here. The business lines are really great. They put Thinkpads to shame in that HP can actually make something that is as reliable and looks good at the same time. Imo, HP still needs better branding for its business lines, coupled with a few "legendary" videos for promotion. They have been known too long for being a low-cost IBM clone manufacturer, thus deserving a change.

Re: How much will the 8510p be (as compared to this 8430)
Do you want another argument like ThinkPad vs HP in which you will fail...? or I guess it's easier to behave as a brand fan boy (that's not good) instead of accepting the facts that even though that the HP business line is very close to the ThinkPads, they still have better build quality and keyboard.
Also, why do you fail to realize that you cannot just fabricate a legend, the reason that HPs are not legendary is simply because they haven't always been great. The ThinkPads have had their reputation for years not since yesterday and they have it for a reason.
As I told you last time, I have the T60 and the HP nc8430 here and both aren't mine, so I don't have any reason to be subjective... and I would bash both of them with great pleasure but the latter has more for bashing...

Re: How much will the 8510p be (as compared to this 8430)
The nc8430 Notebooks are extremly well built.
I bought an nc8430 last year and am over the moon with the purchase, it has turned out to be one of the best pieces of electronic goods I have ever bought.
Question:
Is this 8510p you are talking about the new gen 8430?
I have been looking for the current version of the 8430 for a friend, but have not been able to find it.
