there was an article about hp and their launching of notebooks a week or two back about this. If i'm not mistaken, the 8510p and w versions will be launch sometime in july.

I am SOOO waiting for this thing to become available! I just hope they offer the 120GB version of the 7200RPM drive instead of the 100GB; the price difference between the two sizes is minuscule.

I am curious how the X2600 graphics stack-up...

    When is it coming out?

    Not soon enough.

According to the US datasheet, the largest 7200 drive is 100GB...shame.

I haven't been too impressed with ATI's DX10 lineup, but I think the 2600 is probably the only hope they really have for notebooks right now. A lot of DX10 notebooks went with nVidia for the first round...

Watch, the 2600 won't be as powerful as the X1600 .

    Haha, wouldn't that be swell.

I'm thinking the 2600 will hold it's own, but not be able to touch an 8600GT. Only time will tell though, I'll be looking into an 8510 as soon as they're available.

You might want to wait for benchmarks between the X1600/X1700, 8600GT, and 7700. DX10 is floundering right now with problems and issues, not to mention the poor adoption rate for Vista. So if you don't *need* DX10...just get the one that does the best in DX9.

It looks like the only windows options that will be available are going to be XP Pro and Vista Business (32 or 64 bit).

I'm still on the fence on whether I want to make the jump to Vista, especially now that I notice that a lot of the media-related programs of Home Premium do not come with Vista Business. Is there a way to add these on through microsoft?

I suppose there is plenty of software that can replace Premiums extra media junk.

Ugh, I kind of wish I liked the dv6500t...

Doesn't the 8510 range now includes NVidia graphics for the first time? This is awesome news because they will then function better under Linux.
Those with an 8420/8430 now will be a little disappointed (inc. me) as our notebooks will be too new to be replaced.
