Default TV out through HDMI = Display is Ok but No sound

    Hello guys,

I have the display but I don't have any sound when using an HDMI cable with DV9018ea.
I tested the cable in my unit and it's works fine.

Do I have to config that or update samething ?

    Thanks

if you've updated the video driver, go back to the factory driver.

    I've heard this issue before.

I believe he means the driver that came with the system when you got it.

I dont have any experience with HDMI, but perhaps you muted the volume, either on the laptop, display or speakers.

What kind of setup are you using?

Yes, i meant the "factory" installed video driver. the one that was installed when you first bought the laptop.

I know for a fact that HDMI output works perfect out of the box. BUT, i have read that when you update the driver to one of those laptopvideotogo drivers or from else where, ie windows update, this exact problem will occur.

I cant say for certain this is what the problem is, im just saying this was the case with a bunch of people i read about.

In any case, i would try to uninstall the video driver from device manager, then reinstall the factory driver. make sure you use the one from your C:SWSETUP folder. thats the factory one.

@swissair - This is an area of tech I am fairly a novice at, being that I have only used one HDMI device.

I posted this similar question elsewhere. It seems that HDMI is used to streaming uncompressed digital audio, and depends on certain 'versions' of it to be read by your various boxes. HDMI is in 1.0 and 1.3 iterations, and they don't speak to each other well. For me, I never got audio to stream via HDMI.

You can try changing it to PCM audio, which might work.

I had the same problem with no audio when using HDMI cable between my laptop and my HDTV.
This is what I did to fixed the problem. Go to control panel and click on the sound icon then then click on digital audio and set to default. Closed and then open your player and connect to your tv. There will be no sound on your computer with this setting but you will have sound on your tv. To get sound on your computer again, you need to go back to control panel, sound icon and make the regular speaker default, the open your player and you will have sound again.
