I edited the original post above tweety's (noticed some grammar errors made it sound differently).

This thread helped me get through the wait for receiving my dv6000t - so many thanks for the people who contributed!

I ordered mine on F 3/23. The original ship date was for 4/3. It really shipped on Th 3/29, with a scheduled delivery of 4/3. I ended up receiving it M 4/2! The route it took was China - to Anchorage- to Oakland, CA - Denver (me!).

Was pleasantly surprised by how fast it took.

Lucky. Mine still hasn't shipped . I still don't know why if the estimated built by date for me is the same as someone who were to order the laptop 1 week later. I think HP hates me.

    True dat.

My tale is slightly different; it's a tale of warranty service rather than the purchase of a new notebook.

I bought a (low end bare bones) Compaq V5105 last April for about $600. Near the end of 2006, it started acting up (not powering up, usb not working, etc.). After many irritating emails back and forth with tech support (now HP), I shipped my notebook back to them in January.

The expected ship date (to come back to me) came and went. After many non-helpful exchanges (with folks who had no idea of the status of my machine), they finally stated that whatever part they were waiting for (a motherboard, I suspect) might take until May to come in. At this point, they offered to replace my computer for my troubles.

My old v5105 came with no DVD, 512Mb RAM, 2 Ghz mobile Sempron 3300+ with 128k L2 cache, 2 usb ports, no firewire, etc.

The new computer (dv6000t) I negotiated is as follows:

Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit)
    – Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo T7200 (2.0GHz/4MB L2Cache)
    – 15.4" WXGA BrightView Widescreen (1280x800)
    – 256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7400
    – HP Imprint Finish + Microphone + Webcam
    – 2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    – 200GB 4200RPM SATA Hard Drive
    – LightScribe Super Multi 8X DVD+/-RW w/Double Layer
    – Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network w/Bluetooth
    – HP Expresscard TV Tuner for Windows Vista Notebook
    – High Capacity 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

Better graphics, better cpu, more L2 cache, more usb ports, firewire, much bigger hard drive, much more RAM, dvd, built-in bluetooth, tv tuner with remote, high capacity battery, built-in mic and webcam, etc.

They submitted the build order April 10. I'm anxiously awaiting this thing.

The replacement computer is worth about $1000 more than the original computer. Score!

    Correction:

They submitted the order April 2. Sorry about that. I can't wait to get home from work and look for a FedEx tag.

Whoa, looks like you had the same exact problem as me! You got a little better deal out of it though. I had a $600 HP DV5215us notebook with a single core Turion (1.8ghz), 1gb DDR RAM, 80gb HD, ATI x200m, etc.

Something went wrong with the USB ports and BIOS errors kept coming up. I sent in my laptop in January as well and I finally had to contact them regarding the status. They told me the motherboard was on backorder until May. Finally, they set me up with a case manager, who then asked if I would just like a new computer. ABOUT TIME!

They ordered the computer on the 28th, and it's in Anchorage, AK right now and is scheduled to arrive by 5:00pm tommorow. I'm so excited!

    The new specs are:

    - Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit)
    – AMD Turion(TM) 64 X2 Dual-Core TL-60(2.0GHz/1MB)
    – 15.4" WXGA BrightView Widescreen (1280x800)
    – 256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7200
    – HP Imprint Finish + Microphone + Webcam
    – 2GB DDR2 (2 Dimm)
    – FREE Upgrade from 80GB 5400RPM to 120GB 5400RPM !!
    – LightScribe Super Multi 8X DVD+/-RW w/Double Layer
    – 802.11a/b/g WLAN and Bluetooth
    – HP Expresscard TV Tuner for Windows Vista Notebook
    – High Capacity 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
    – Mobile Stereo Earbud Headphones (1 pair)
    - System Recovery DVD w/Windows Vista Home Premium

Good thing I had a desktop computer to get me through this semester of school!

I have to say, my experience with HP support has been terrible, but I can't complain with this deal!

    And the answer is:

    * order placed April 2
    * shipment received April 11

Nine days (seven business days) for my custom dv6000t!

I've only scratched the surface in checking it out but so far I love it. It has damned near everything you could ask for in the 6000 series.
