In Vista my f7 & f8 keys no longer work to adjust my screen brightness. Anyone know what the deal is? I'm assuming it's a driver thing?

Only a few drivers so far today, but they finally posted the Vista Upgrade Utility. I linked to that file and the directions in the first post.

As I've already updated my system I can't run the utility, so if you've been waiting please post your experience so others can know whether that's an easier route to go or not.

Whale -- mine work fine. What graphics chip do you have, and what drive are you using? Also, in power options do you have a slider to adjust brightness?

He stated previously that you have to launch messenger or something that uses the webcam to see the video. I dont remember if it was in this thread or another though but atm thats the only way we can view it. Weird though Windows wont let us see it any other way these days. It was a nice thing to have before

Good app to see it but bad in the fact you couldnt adjust the settings and such for a better looking view. I personally have a logitech notebook cam so im all good with the built in one not functioning to specs.

Yeah, even the systems shipping with Vista don't seem to have a simple webcam viewer app included any more. You can use Windows Messenger (or any other messaging app if you use any) to view your webcam.

Most of the webcam apps I've tried have issues with Vista, so Messenger seems to be the most reliable at the moment.

I need some help, I am using the hp utlity and it is getting ready to flash my BIOS but it wants to put on BIOS F.11 dated 12/08/2006 and I already have BIOS F.13 dated 01/02/2007 should I let it do it or should I close down the utlity before it flashes my computer. Can someone find out what version of BIOS they have. I have a dv9000 with intel dual core 2 chip.

Thanks

You shouldnt have a BiOS F.11 at all if youre running a dv9000 with intel. The latest is F.15 and the previous versions were F.6 4 and 2. Not sure were or how ya got the 11 though. I currently also have a dv9000.

You can see the BIOS versions if you go to the software and drivers download area for the system.
