I think this should be stickied until HP really gets their drivers out. This guy has put some work into providing for everyone. It would be a shame to see it fall off the front page.

Hopefully the mods will see it soon and sticky it. Id hate for it and the one with the dv6000 and dv2000 drivers to get lost. Might be even better if we could break down and have the dv9000 listed too.

I updated the first post with links to the fine work Jamaican youth did last night. I also linked to a rar of just the new drivers (webcam and support stuff mainly) from his large torrent file. Unfortunately, nothing cool has been posted on HP's ftp yet today.

Ill have to try out the web cam when I get home from work. Along with the new BIOS update I suppose. Also I have heard rumor that the DV9000 will hold up to 4gigs of ram. Any confirm or deny this?

The webcam works now, still dartk as ever. And it doesn't show up in Explorer the way it did in XP. The BIOS update caused Windows to reload the Quickplay button drivers on my system, though I still can't get to a control panel to adjust them. Oh, well.

Your system should support 4 GB of RAM, but it's almost impossible to get 2 GB DDr2 SO-DIMMS, which you;d need. They'll be tough to get and expensive, then you'll have no way to know if they're compatible with your system until you try. I wouldn't bother till they're more widely available, personally.

I always thought that the DV9000 only held 2gig cause everywhere you look on HPs website says MAX supported was 2gig. Weird.

byrds6 -- Pretty much all notebooks were limited to 2 GB RAM because 2 GB DDR2 SO-DIMMs haven't really existed before. They still don't, really, but with the release of Vista I imagine they are now in the works. Expect them to be rediculously expensive though.

There is no specific webcam app anymore. You can use Windows Live Messenger to view your webcam, or download one of the various webcam utilities. To use Messenger, click the menu button (top right, next to minimize), select Tools, then Webcam options. It will start your webcam, show you the preview window, and allow you to adjust the image settings.

2gig sticks have existed for a while and have been expensive. last time I looked they were like 650 each lol. Maybe they will come down if demand rises and we can all buy them for our HP notebooks and run Vista like a bat out of well ya know the rest.
